Tip #1: Have dedicated running shoes for running only
- You don’t want to wear them out prematurely by using your specially designed running shoes for hiking, weight training, or other sports. They’re also not designed for optimal performance in those activities.
Tip #2: Invest in socks for running
- Running socks are designed to provide proper cushioning for your foot to reduce fatigue and damage over long distances. The material used – often a mixture of nylon, spandex and polyester – wicks sweat and moisture away from your skin keeping you dry, comfortable and warm.
Tip #3: Buy two of the exact same pair and alternate between them
- This will extend the life of your shoes, make your performance far more consistent, and improve overall comfort. You won’t need to waste time getting used to a new pair of shoes because you now have two pairs that are race-ready. And you’ll have a backup pair when one set is soaked from yesterday’s run in the rain or snow.
