4 Tips to Break through Your Training Plateau

There is nothing more frustrating than the feeling you get when you simply cannot overcome a training plateau. Everyone has been there at least once, but the reality is that you do not have to get stuck twiddling your thumbs. Instead, using these 4 tips will help ensure that you can quickly push through any training plateaus and move forward will full intensity in your workouts.

1. Try New Exercises

One of the easiest ways to break through a plateau is to change up some of the exercises in your workout. For example, if you are doing push ups, try changing up the types of push ups you are doing. Widen your shoulders, bring them closer, or do some other adjustment. This will change the impact of the exercise and force your body to adapt. Also, consider getting different equipment to aid with the exercises. After a few weeks, try the original exercises and see that you have naturally pushed through.

2. Change the Pace of Your Workout

Another great way to adjust your workout is to simply change the pace of it. Take an example workout where you do 10-12 reps of 10 different workouts and then repeat it twice. Instead of only doing 10-12 reps and repeating the set, try maximizing your reps and only do one set. In other words, you might do 20 reps of the first workout, 16 of the second, and so on and so forth. This change in pace will keep your body guessing.

3. Switch Your Method

Changing the method of your workout can also be a powerful plateau breaker. For example, if you lift weights, try some resistance bands instead. Do this for a week or two and you might be surprised how much more you are able to lift with the free weights afterwards.

4. Mind Your Diet

Finally, consider making small changes to your diet. In some cases, you simply aren't getting the right nutrition to push through your plateau. A little change can have a great impact on your energy, which can help propel you forward.

Plateaus are an inevitable part of every workout, but they do not have to stop you cold. Instead, the right training and preparation can help ensure that you push through these challenges and move forward full force.
