Great for a 3 day backpacking trip

Worked great on the uphills and downhills. Sized up from previous pairs and fit great no toe issues. Felt great on all the rocks. Slipping on slippery rocks in the river and had some side to side motion. Was a little better with tightening the front of the laces more.

My New Favorite Trail Shoe

I have wide feet but love trail running. New balance was always a shoe that worked well for me but over the years they seemed to have turned more toward fashion and trends vs actual performance. So since then I have been on the hunt for a good replacement shoe. Last year I was fitted with some Brooks Cascadia 19 and while they said they were wide I always got blisters and started wearing out the fabric on the sides. Doing some research I came across the Altria’s wide toe box and the lone peak 9+ so thought I would give them a try. I have been on multiple trail runs and have had no issues. Previous shoes around the 5 mile mark I would have numerous hotspots and pain. I just completed an 8 mile trail run in these and I have never felt this good after a run. I hope they don’t ever change these because I don’t ever plan on changing brands again.

I like the shoe - but the black is dark blue

I use these for long-distance backpacking, and overall they've held up well. Fit is as expected, and the outsole is grippy - great traction. After a 300-mile thru-hike, both the sole and upper show minimal wear.
The one big bummer: the "black" isn't really black. It's a dark navy blue. You can see it in the photo - my socks are black, my gaiters are black, even the bear poop is black, but my shoes are blue.

Melted insoles

Left in my car with a couple of other pairs of my Altras. On a hot day the insoles shrank big time. Interestingly enough only happened to this pair of shoes and not my other Altras in the car. I emailed Altra and they said there was nothing they could do for me. Such a bummer

Great having wide option, but hard to find on site

It's great that Altra has wide toe boxes on all shoes, as well as a wide (overall) option. However looking for those wide options online is time consuming. You have identify which kind of shoe you want (trail, gym, etc. ), then click on every color individually. Even better would be to have a button in the beginning of the search process that allows you to choose between regular and wide, and shows what's available in that width. I've seen it on other websites. Thx!
