1350+ Miles walked in these shoes

After hiking, walking and working in these shoes almost everyday for the past 9 months, I can say these shoes are fantastic. They are easily the most comfortable shoe i’ve ever worn. With that though, these shoes cannot receive a 5 star because of a few different issues.
1. The tread on my shoes have rubbed down into basically nothing. And that happened months ago, i’ve just continued using them because they are otherwise still functional.
2. The fabric lace holders below the metal clasps have broken in 2 different places in a short period of time and I suspect they eventually all begin to give out all together.
3. These shoes are absolutely not waterproof in the slightest. They have always been very susceptible to water which I find to be very inconvenient when I am hiking 20+ miles in wet conditions.
Overall, besides these issues with wear and tear, i’ve also bullied these shoes probably much more Intensely then most as these are my main shoe I wear so take everything I say with a grain of salt. Again, these shoes are great. Very comfortable, and my feet have gotten stronger and my balance has gotten better as a direct result of the wide toe box which I love. I will be buying the Olympus 6 Mids next as they seem to have a more durable tread on them.

NOT WATERPROOF

I am an expert backpacker and camper. These are a good boot but not waterproof. Almost got me frostbite. Feet wet and freezing. These should not be advertised as waterproof or even water resistant. I wish they made their other boots in wide but these are the only model available in wide but these won’t even withstand a little morning dew let alone rain.

I love how comfortable these boots are, but they are not waterproof! Altra can do better for the price point. I also have the lone peak 9+ GTX. (Gortex compared to the 9s mid “Waterproof”). Haven’t worn them with moisture present yet. Boot dryer required, what a shame!

Great hiking boots - On my second pair

I’m 66 years old and have walked thousands of miles. I’m on my second pair of these boots and I love them. Your feet take a lot of abuse and you owe it to them to take good care of them. These boots do not disappoint.
