Great fit poor quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been wearing Keens for over 20 years. I still have a few pairs that are at least 10 years old. I needed a new pair of cold weather boots because my old ones were worn. These fit great and very comfortable. Unfortunately after only 6 months, the grip has started to peel from the boot. The grip doesn't even show signs of wear because I dont wear them every day and when I do its usually only in the office. Unfortunate that it seems quality is starting to tumble.

Uppers split along the forefoot

I bought these a year or so ago, and they felt ok once I replaced the hard insoles with some that were more cushioned. Unfortunately both boots split open in the uppers on both sides of the forefoot. The soles look practically new, but the boots are falling apart.

Targhee 3

This hiking shoe is Hands Down the best fitting shoe for my foot. Comfortable and sturdy.
I’ll be buying another pair for back up since it appears that it is discontinued.
Unfortunately, the Targhee 4 is a poor design. Very uncomfortable. Could wait to get them off at the end of the day.

Thin and flimsy midsole offers no protection

Started out well. Limited break in period. Well constructed uppers. But really thin midsole offers almost no protection on rocky trails. Very uneven wear on the sole and section under ball of my foot feels almost paper thin after moderate use.

A perfect and versatile boot

So far I've owned the Targhee, II, III, and IV. For me the III is the most comfortable and best fitting out of all of them for daily wear. I need a boot that's versatile and can go from walking the dogs on concrete sidewalks, to the office, and moderate hiking. All in various weather like rain and snow. And the III is perfect for that. The II and IV are a great hiking and backpacking boot with the stiffer and harder outsole and stiffer upper. For daily wear they are just not comfortable and give me foot pain and shin splints, even with different insoles. They are all great boots but for my needs the III's are perfect.
