We've used smaller, thinner Thermarests for 20 years(!) now. But because we are old, we needed additional padding. These new Base Camp pads, with the fantastic inflate/deflate valves and the larger size and thickness, in combination with the old pads, makes for a super comfortable camping bed for us.

It is comfortable and durable. Exactly what I was looking for!

I have not yet used this new pad, but expect it to be as good as or as the one I have used for many years

I've owned two of the earlier version of Base Camp (different valve) for thirty years. I had them tightly rolled sitting in my garage for 12. Recently I unrolled them, opened the valves and left them on my office floor.. They self-inflated, though it took a little longer than it used to. It took five puffs of air to get them very firm. Then I put about 50 lbs of weights on them.A week later they haven't deflated one bit. What a great product!

I am coming up on 28 years with the U.S. Army and will retire in the coming year. I was stranded in a Kuwait in 2010 and forced to live at a place called Camp Buehring for a year. I had a military issued cot but that was not going to meet my standards. A good friend ordered me a Thermarest Basecamp sleeping pad. It fit perfectly on the issued military cot. I never had one issue with this pad leaking down or tearing. I used it religiously for the next 10 years submitting it to the outdoor elements. I used it for the last time this year in Bosnia for a little vacation, courtesy of the Army. If you are wanting a indestructible pad that will last and is priced well, then this is it. I did loose my bag that it comes in on the last trip so now I can’t roll it up. Thermarest can you send me one please? Also ordered a Thermarest camp pillow in camo colored and use it nightly at home. Best products I have spent money on and were well worth it. Absolutely perfect while camping out in Michigan this last week. Comfortable and warm. 2 XL Basecamp pads fit inside my Woods Pinnacle 4man tent with space to spare. Inflated and deflated flawlessly.

Used it twice so far and very happy with the sleeping comfort.
