The Launch 7 Shorts product line has always had side pockets that were excellent. The Launch Elite DOES NOT HAVE SIDE POCKETS!!!
SportChek failed to make this distinction apparent in the product description. Under Armour shares some responsibility here as well.

Speed pocket is best phone carrier of all

The speed pocket is simply the best way to carry a phone in a non-trail running short. Some trail shorts and tights that have multiple waist pockets offer more carrying options, where a phone, keys, plus gels or even a small soft flask can be tucked in, but if all you need is to take your phone, the speed pocket rules. Shorts fit will, too. As others said, the waist band is snug and less stretchy than most running band elastic, but it is also incredibly durable. These shorts last! The material is slightly thicker than ultra light shorts, but I find that useful for wearing post run, as they aren't like paper and all bouncy. My one request, add a small internal key pocket. Having a modern car fob plus the phone is very tight in the Speedpocket. Having a cloth internal key pocket would increase versatility and add virtually no weight.

Tighter than you think

Was excited to get some new running shorts but these were a little tighter than expected. I have used this style in thr past but you may need to order a size up.

The original pair I purchased had pockets; however, the larger size does not. The quality of the material is too thin to be practical for workouts.

Fits small

Fits really small around the waist. Medium would comfortably for a 30” waist or smaller. No picker which if frustrating. Light and moisture wicking
