[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Altra Experience Flow 3 GTX was tested in multiple conditions: early morning dog walks through wet grass, rainy runs through puddles, and runs along the water on the beach. The wide toe box and grippy sole helped me feel stable and grounded on multiple surfaces. This was my first time running in a GORE-TEX shoe. I had heard that GORE-TEX was hot, but I felt comfortable in the shoes, even in humid Florida in September! I appreciated that they kept my feet dry walking through the wet grass and puddles on an early morning dog walk with my poodle. Being water-repellant, my dog doesn't mind wet conditions, but I was always worried about ruining my running shoes until now. I also liked the reflective pattern on the top of the shoe to help with visibility. A trip to the grocery store? No problem, I could hurry (or not) through the parking lot in the rain, and once in the grocery store, wasn't worried about slipping on the tile floor with the shoe's MAXTRAC sole. Besides some everyday use on a rainy day, I also ran in the shoes. Initially, they felt a little stiff and not as flexible as my usual mesh-covered running shoe. However, after a couple of miles into the run I felt more comfortable and didn't notice the stiffness as much. More than anything I appreciated that I could continue marathon training in the rain without compromising my daily trainer in a shoe that didn't pinch my toes. I typically wear a women's 8 1/2 wide, but I selected a men's Altra in a size 7 to test out the shoe. I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review, so I wanted to make sure I had the extra width that a D would provide to have enough room. I also ran along the ocean with little concern for the occasional wave catching my feet. The grippy sole was great on the wet sand, providing some extra traction along the beach without the fear of wet socks. As a marathon runner, running coach, and avid dog walker, I would recommend these shoes. They're versatile enough to take you from your daily errands and dog walks to your next run--rain or shine.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Altra Flow 3 GTX Review Waterproofing I didn’t get a chance to use the Flow 3 GTX in the rain, so I can’t speak to its real-world performance in prolonged wet conditions. However, the GORE-TEX upper performed very well under running water from a tap, giving me confidence that it should handle wet conditions well. Traction I found the traction to be good during everyday walking and cycling. I didn’t get a chance to test it extensively on wet or particularly slippery surfaces, so I can’t comment on how it performs in more challenging conditions. Fit The Standard FootShape™ design feels comfortable overall, with plenty of room through the toes and a comfortable fit through the midfoot. My main issue was the upper around the top of my foot. The stiffer GORE-TEX fabric creates a small pressure point where the upper folds as I walk. I noticed this particularly during my first few outings. It became much less noticeable after about a mile, but I could still feel it occasionally. Ride The 4mm drop, rocker geometry, and Altra EGO™ P35 cushioning make the shoe feel comfortable and smooth while moving. I especially noticed this during a 20-mile cycling outing, where the shoes remained very comfortable throughout. Comfort Overall comfort is very good. On my first day, I noticed the pressure point on the top of my foot fairly quickly. After about a mile, though, I largely stopped noticing it. On subsequent outings, including walking to the gym and a 20-mile bike ride, the shoes felt comfortable overall. The small pressure point is still there, but it becomes easy to ignore after some time. Versatility This is probably my favorite aspect of the Flow 3 GTX. I’ve found myself reaching for these shoes for almost everything. They worked well for walking, going to the gym, and even a 20-mile bike ride. Overall Performance The Flow 3 GTX performs best for me as an everyday, do-it-all shoe. It combines good comfort with a versatile design that works across walking, gym use, and cycling. The main drawback is the small pressure point caused by the stiffer GORE-TEX fabric folding over the top of my foot. It was noticeable initially but became much less bothersome after about a mile. Overall, it’s a very good shoe, and the fact that I keep finding myself reaching for it for different activities says a lot about how versatile and comfortable it is.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I went on multiple runs in ithaca New York. It’s a rainy town w lots of creeks, trails, and hills. I ran on slick pavement, flat rocks, packed gravel trails and up and down steep inclines. The traction was perfect on all services, no issues slipping running in the light rain or through puddles. The standard foot shape is a bit wider in the toe box than the experience flow non-gortex, which I like. The gortex does make it a bit less breathable and the material is definitely more rigid, but still very flexible and light weight. I love the style and the look! The cushion, rocker and 4 mm drop are perfect for me. I am not someone who can run in zero drop because I need that bit of a heel lift. This is a shoe I can wear to do anything, casually. running or even light hiking around here where it can be muddy. They have the perfect level of arch support for my foot as well. It’s not too high. And the midstep is not too narrow and my socks stayed completely dry. Overall very happy with them! Definitely recommend!
