I don’t use these shoes for traditional use. I stand and walk all day. These shoes are exactly what I needed. Not just a thick soiled shoe but has stability, arch support, and the toe box I have come to enjoy.

I specifically bought the upgraded version with the Vibram rubber, but the tread longevity is terrible. Put barely 40 miles on these and the outsole pattern is already smoothed down significantly. I really like everything else about the fit and comfort of the shoe, but at this price point, the sole material shouldn't be degrading this quickly.

Much better than earlier Altras I've owned but these really will maybe get you 150-200 of GOOD miles of trail use. Toe box and toe rubber is awesome and the heel puts you forward but flat, which I really like. Shoe turns over great and I really do like it. That being said, the midsole is a major weak point and wears out quick. Vibram sole is super thin and flimsy and if you plant your midsole on a sharp/pointy rock you will certainly feel it. . . This is what mine look like after about 250 miles, only owned them since May 15th (just fyi for serious trail runners). Only about 15 road miles on them, the rest, all single track type dirt trails. These were professionally fit to my foot with insoles, the side webbing blew out just from wear and was not caught or torn. . . I bought another pair to compare them, we'll see how the next 3 months of training treat them!

I wear these casually as sneakers and love them. They are my go to for traveling and exploring cities or going on short hikes. They are super comfortable and the sole is supportive and cushioned but not overly so. Wish they came in more subdued colorways.

These sneakers are very close to perfect. I’ve completed several challenging trails in them, and the only improvement I’d like to see is a slightly more protective midsole so that sharp rocks are a bit less noticeable underfoot. That said, it’s not a major issue. Everything else performs perfectly. The Vibram outsole provides excellent grip and has never let me down on any terrain. Ventilation is more than adequate, the sizing is spot on, and the fit is exactly as it should be. At the moment, these are my favorite trail running shoes.

I've put about 60 miles on the Altra Experience 3+, using them primarily for hiking, and they've been excellent so far. They're lightweight and very comfortable, even on longer hikes. The outsole provides great grip on rocky terrain, giving me confidence on uneven surfaces. Overall, they've been a great combination of comfort, traction, and low weight, and I'd definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a lightweight hiking shoe.

Probably one of the more comfortable shoes and the small heel lift is much more enjoyable to wear, the wide foot box which is great for my wide feet, and the heel cup feels pretty secure. However I don’t like the fact the vibram they use is the softer variety. Like, very soft. While they are great at gripping on wet surfaces compared to the usual hard vibram, I cannot see them lasting long on pavement or hard abrasive surfaces including stones and volcanic rock. Not to mention, the vibram sole on this shoe is very thin. I’d want it to trade off some of the thickness of the foam midsole for a more thicker vibram outsole. The lacing also isn’t friendly for straight bar lacing. You can sort of lace it in a bar lace arrangement but the lace points is not set up for it and so you kind of get a diagonal lacing with weird spacing that doesn’t look good, which works okay but kind of a shame because bar lacing puts less strain on the top of my feet and feels more consistent than the usual cross lacing. I don’t like the TPU or whatever material being welded along the toes and trimmings, which visually looks and feels cheap, and I’m conflicted on the foam padding they use for the tongue and the entire ankle area because it feels too warm at times. The fabric used on the tongue and throughout the inside of the ankle/cup has me questioning the durability.
