Altra Men's Timp 5 Hike Gore-Tex Hiking Shoes

I really like them. I’m an irrigator, so I was looking for a comfortable waterproof option for work. I’ve tried many brands of waterproof hiking boots, and these are the best yet.

I usually have hot spots on the back of my heal and the side of my pinky toe. Zero issues with these boots and I only wore them inside my house for about 10 minutes before the rim to rim hike (26.5 miles). I will definitely buy another pair as I have now worn them out on other hikes and a few deer and elk hunts. Very comfortable boot. Some reviewers didn’t like the ankle digging in. I just loosened the top two laces and they were great!!

I am disappointed with these shoes. Unfortunately, I purchased them in a foreign city when I was in desperate need of comfortable waterproof shoes and cannot return them. While they fit well in terms of sole comfort & sizing, after I had left the city, it was apparent that the tongue design painfully digs into my ankles. I also cannot get the tension right on the upper lacing - either the laces have to be super loose, providing zero support or are too tight, practically cutting off ankle mobility and circulation. Altra - what would you suggest I do? It is frustrating to have paid a decent amount of money for shoes that are painful to wear.

Used in Florida summers and rainy days, feet stay dry relatively hotter than non-gtx. laces stay tight, and the traction is as expected. zero drop & gtx = winning combo. after about 10 hours it started to feel like I was wearing plastic bags on my feet in terms of heat retention. but that's expected for any gtx boot. weather was around 90 feels like 100, and then the last hour had torrential downpour, feet stayed dry.
