I tried these as they were suggested to help with PF - I tried them for an hour each day and they really hurt my big toes in both feet. Was a bit of a waste of money as I can't wear them.

Doesn’t stack up to Torin 8 imo

I went back to the 8 after trying the 9 for a couple months, it just doesn’t support me as well. I feel like the outside of my feet aren’t supported enough, and the heel isn’t enough. The insole feels like it has more bounce to it than the 8, but at some cost. I use these for lifting and light cardio, love the 8 and buying a couple pairs on sale.

My Favorite Torin Since the 4. 5 Plush

This is my favorite Torin since the 4. 5 Plush. I'm an OG Escalante Racer guy, but I love this shoe. It's a great ride for days when you want to rest your feet and calves. It's not light, but it doesn't feel heavy. I didn't notice any decrease in my turnover. The Vibram sole is perfect for wet pavements and thunderstorms. It sticks like a soft Pirelli tire. The sizing guide suggested I go wide. I didn't, and I'm glad. I have wide toes, not wide feet, and the standard foot shape last provides plenty of room in the toe box. In the past, when I've sized up in width or length, I've found my feet sliding around, which is worse for my toes.

Great fitting and comfortable shoe

Recently got into the world of Altra and picked these up for my daily short runs. The fit and feel is incredible. I use the Torin 8 for my daily shoes around town and I really like how more streamlined the Torin 9 is. There is less cushioning than the 8 but that hasn’t been a bother at all for me. Have been recommending to everyone I know who is looking for a no drop running shoe.

improved but disappointingly narrow

the foam feels faster than torin 8, but it feels like each version of the torin just gets narrower and narrower at the midfoot (yes I am getting the wide version). For the torin 8, alternative lacing helped, but harder to do with the new design.

Run Small

These are comfortable, but a little narrow and run small. If you normally order a wide, I would go a half size up. I had to return mine and exchange them for a bigger size. Return was free and stress-free. I wish they made these in a wide in the white. Not nearly as comfortable as their Lone Peaks, but those are going to be hard to match.

These shoes were almost perfect. Great sole and shaped perfect for my foot. But, I could not get the tongue to be comfortable. Anytime I would tighten the laces, the tongue would scrunch up and rub the top of my foot raw. Shame because I liked everything else about them.

Good, Almost Great

I'm overweight (250ish) and have a heavy step. I was constantly getting Achilles pain when I was walking anything over 3 miles. I ordered these and a pair of FWD VIA 2s and my problem was fixed. While I think the FWD VIA 2s are perfect, The Torin 9 is just. . . good. The things I love about this shoe are:
-They are comfortable with the right amount of cushion for me
-The new road vibram lead me to hope and expect that these could be their most durable shoe yet
-There is a lot of actual tread underneath this shoe - which is lacking in most modern shoes
What keeps it from being 5 stars:
-There's something off about the toebox and upper. Plenty of room on the inside of the foot, but outside foot and the vertical space in the upper seems tight. I wish they would have used the original footshape on this model (That being said, there's still more more space in these shoes than 98% of shoes on the market. )
-While I was shopping for an all black shoe, I got lucky because I couldn't have bought any other colors because most of them have an ugly yellow "vibram" in the front of the shoe. (Its a small thing, but it was all I could see when I was checking these out in REI)
All that being said. I am keeping these as my everyday shoe because they are mostly comfortable, I got them at a great price, and I have high hopes that they will be durable.
