Enjoying the wider toe box !

Great for dirt, rocky trail, or walking paved surfaces. Sole grips really well. The fit for me seems: mostly normal in length (maybe a tad long but I stuck with my size). and significantly wider toe box (which I love) than the Experience Form.
I also purchased 2 pair of the Experience Wild 3+ with Vibram sole for big rock hiking. To me the height of the toe box in 3+ shoe is taller than the Wild 3. Supposedly they are the exact same shoe other than the sole, but on the pairs I received the 3+ has more volume in the toe box. I have slim feet with low arch and prefer the regular Wild 3, but wanted the 3+ for the Vibram sole for certain hikes.
Altra, would love more colors that conceal brown dust/dirt on the sole sides. White soles are not a good color for a trail shoe in Colorado! Your current mens brown with olive green soles would be great in a Women's for narrower feet! Darker soles below, with most any color up top other than white, pale green etc.

Love these shoes. Minimal drop, cushioned, but not so much that you can't feel the ground. Intuitive curve on the heel for confortable running on hard to dynamic terrains.

Great for the trail

I'm super pleased with this purchase. It has been a bit of a struggle to find a comfortable trail shoe that works for Southern California groomed or rocky trails and also can transition to small portions of road. So many trail shoes are made for extreme terrain and heavy and uncomfortable. This one was amazing. Right out of the box did 10 mile hilly terrain without any issues. Super comfortable. Definitely will purchase more in the future.

Caused Achilles damage

I’ve been running in Altras for over 10 years now. I really wanted to love these, but the backs are high and very rigid. They hammered into my Achilles during downhills and caused both tendons to flare up. I also ordered the new Lone Peaks ant the same time and their backs have also increased in height and rigidity over previous models. The two pairs have caused months of injury, PT sessions, and unfortunately aren’t even wearable.

Loved Models 1 and 2 but 3 changed

I love Altra’s and due to my Achilles tendonosis the Experience Wilds saved me! I was able to go for a 4 mile jog without any increase in pain and after a while my Achilles didn’t hurt. I woke up and could walk (IYKYK) without pain. I purchased the 2nd model as same thing they were great. When I purchased the 3 I noticed something changed, the sole was firmer, but I thought little of it as I would where to lone peaks prior. When I decided to go for a jog in my 3’s my Achilles tendon immediately felt that pain again. I looked at the comparison and it says the sole went from high to mid cushion. I’ve actually looked at a different brand because of this, I need something that has a wide toe box and a little heel rise and some extra Cushion I guess.

These gave me major irritation in the achilles area after an easy 2 mile hike. 2 pair of the wild 2 were amazing for me. Thankfully altra accepts returns.
