    Not waterproof at all

These are great boots but they are not waterproof. I love everything about them, the original foot shape, wide toe box, zero drop, incredibly light weight and fantastic grippy sole on ice but. . . in wet grass or crossing wet ground I was soaked for the rest of my hike. Yuk. Ankle support is key for my hiking conditions so I'm limited in my choice of Altras. The Lone Peak hiker is great but like a sponge in wet conditions. What to do? Should I try the leather GTX boot? Some say that's not waterproof either and the high stack looks like it wouldn't work on steep side slopes where you need an edge. I have six pairs of Altras and never wear anything else, whether at the gym, in town, even out for dinner. Please, please make a serious waterproof off trail hiking boot Altra!

I have hiked all over Europe and the US in my normal lone peaks, but for a 2 week trip to Iceland I ordered these. The first few days these were just like my regular lone peaks…until something with the fit/inside of shoe started to press on my Achilles and left me limping and struggling through the rest of my 12 days of hiking. I had tested these out for walks before I left, but I ended up being stuck in Iceland with expensive Altra with a limp and constant pain. I am so disappointed because my right foot feels amazing, when I touch inside the shoe you can feel the structure a bit so I’m wondering if that’s causing it. Either way I’m going to have to return them.

These boots are great. I love my barefoot hikers but when I'm doing technical trails with tons of rock-hopping and roots the barefoot hikers don't provide enough protection or grip. These boots combine the fit of a barefoot with the safety of a regular hiker. Genius.

    NOT waterproof!

My feet love the Altra Lone Peaks! They would give the shoe 6 stars. But, about every other pair I buy is NOT waterproof! Zero stars there. I bought the blue pair last year. Best color ever, Altra! Loved it so much that I bought a second blue pair for future wear. The first blue ones got me through until a few weeks ago. Always waterproof. I had worn the heel traction down so switched to the second blue pair. NOT waterproof! Came home from dog walk this morning with soaking wet feet. Not walking through water, just park and golf course and morning dew. My feet will insist I continue to buy the Lone Peaks but I will try a spray waterproof on them before wearing next time.

I purchased these for a hiking trip I was taking. They were fantastic! I hiked 105 miles along the Cotswold Way in England and besides my feet being tired they felt great! Highly recommend . I sized up a half size based on other reviews

    NOT IT ALTRA!!

I've been wearing "waterproof" Lone Peaks for years. Started with the bright blue ones back in 2020, and then replaced those in 2023 with the light blue mid version. Both were box to trail with no blisters for me. Super comfortable!! These are definitely a bit heavier (I think they're trying to respond to the many comments about the waterproofing) but my problem is they completely redid the ankle shape! Took these on a long hike for my first outing given my experience with Altras and I came back with huge blisters across the backs of both of my ankles as well as blisters on my toes. Let that heal and took them on a short hike (thinking it was my fault) and same thing after only 3 miles :( If you look at the ankle portion of the boot it's completely different than their last few models. Much skinnier and a big U-shape so I think it's pushing my ankle back the whole time rather than offering support. Definitely returning and going to try to find a previous model!

Love these so much! Bought them just before 4 day hike and they were amazing- I only wear wide toe box shoes and these fit the bill! Also super light. I am size 9-9.5 and ending up going with a 10.
