Bummer

These shoes hit my ankle bone. After having to give away my Torin 7 because they hit my ankle bone so bad I was worried about bruising, I though the changes made since then would help. I was wrong. Instead, they still hit my ankle bone and the toe box feels narrower. It seems like the wide toe box, which is the best thing about Altra, just keeps getting smaller and smaller. Disappointed.

Love the shoe/Hate the color

I ordered the Torin 9 in Blue/White. I expected the same beautiful Light Blue as shown on the website, and as in past Torin 8. Instead I received kind of a Teal color. Other than the color I love the shoe. Just be careful of the color. I usualy wear these with jeans, but they look a little odd with blue jeans. I will admit the picture makes it look more blue than teal, but trust me, it is not the light blue that it appears on the website.

It's not the same

I have been in altras since 2018.. qualifed and ran Boston in them, all of my ironman and 70.3s and sadly feel like altra has abandoned its core audience. The altra 9 is super narrow and I have been in 9.5 for all my shoes in Altra including the vanish pulse and this shoe insisted up half a size and still hitting toe box. The shoe itself I think could be great but the last is so different

really poor design…!

I’ve been wearing Torins since 4… and every new design has been an adjustment, but the 9s are a total flop. I liked he back ankle grip from the 8 and it’s totally gone, the sneaker feels like it’s falling off. The tongue will not lie flat, impossible. And my toes kept hitting some inner rim in the toe box, literally getting caught on it.

Not the same

This my third pair of torin’s and they do not compare. They are more narrow despite manufacturer say and the laces are short so I either have to get new Laces so I don’t have to re-tie my shoes every mile or less OR go back to my torin 8’s.

Not a Fan of P35X Foam

I think I'm just not a fan of P35 and P35X foam. After trying Torin 9, Torin ST 2, and Torin 8, I much prefer the ST and 8, both of which use the EGOMAX foam where Torin 9 using P35X. I also don't love Experience Flow or Experience Wild (both P35). If you, like me, think P35 is too compliant for big miles, you won't like P35X. Head over to Torin ST for a more supportive shoe that holds up mile after mile.
To the folks at Altra, please don't turn away from EGOMAX.

Best Torins since the 4. 5

Love these shoes. I’m a college runner and I’ve been running in torins since they came out with the 4. 5’s, which were my favorite. Over the years they’ve been solid enough I’ve stuck with but the 7’s gave me great pain because of the toughness of the collar. Finally, the 9’s are the closest they’ve gotten to the 4. 5. I’ve had no issues, no pain. These shoes are soft, bouncing, and very comfortable, even after having over 200 miles on them. Highly recommended if you're a torin lover.

Cramped toe box, short laces

I've been wearing Altras since December 2020, buying 1-2 pairs per year. This year's Torin 9s are my second pair of Torins: I also had the 8. I consistently wear a 9. 5. The toe box in the Torin 9 is cramped, and the toes on my left foot go numb after about 15 minutes. The laces are so short that I can't loosen them enough to give my toes room to wiggle. This is a really unfortunate design fail, because the white + pink combo I have is delightful.
