    Not a Fan

I had high hopes for the Torin 9. Unfortunately, the shoe overall, especially the toe box, is much narrower, including vertically, and the lacing across the tops of my toes and arch creates painful pressure and rubbing. The Torin 8s don't do this, and I've hopefully stocked up enough on those that they'll fix it in the next run of Torins. I'd love to try the new foam in the 9s footbed, but until they fix the width and lacing issues, I'll have to stick with the 8s.

The shoe fit perfect. I went up half a size from 6.5 to 7. They are very comfortable. I would highly recommend the Altra Torin 9. I love the wide toe box and the zero drop.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Heel design is terrible

I've owned at least 30 pairs of Altra shoes since 2013, but I'm growing increasingly frustrated with the constant design changes. Thankfully, the Torin 9 gets the toe box width right, and the shoe is comfortable overall. After Altra changed the toe box width in previous models, I was relieved to see a return to a fit that works for me. Unfortunately, they've now changed the heel shape and height, and I developed heel blisters on my very first run. It's frustrating that a brand I've trusted for years can't seem to leave a good design alone. I want to love these shoes, but constantly changing the fit from one version to the next makes it difficult to stay loyal to the brand. Very disappointed.

I have been wearing the Torin for 10 years and have been thru several changes which were improvements. The changes made to the Torin 9 have left it indistinguishable in the field. It feels narrower and shorter in the toe box and the tongue area is so open and wide that it looks like my feet are swollen. I double checked the size to make sure it was right...8.5 as I always wear. Thought it might be a smaller size. Also the new lacing system is a pain. I'm going to search out the old 8's and stock up on them!

I have been wearing altra shoes now for nearly a decade, appreciate zero drop shoes. I originally picked up the torin 9 half a size larger in women's and hated it. Toes were hitting the sides and toe box leaving me with bruised toes. Decided to try the torin 9 in mens instead and it was amazing. Love love the grippiness of the sole what a difference to not have to engage other stabilizing muscles to not slip ( I run on a Riverwalk with debris sand leaves etc) and the volume was perfect. I take back everything I said about the torin 9 in women's. Perhaps change the sizing model to be high volume vs low volume to help customers get the right size out the gate. Excellent shoe and a viable choice for next marathon. Well done.

I have had the torin 7, 8, and now I bought the 9. Throughout all 3 styles, I needed to order a wide shoe size despite the wide toe box design. I will say, the Torin 9 feels even more narrow throughout the midfoot than the 7 and 8 did. It makes me feel as though my toes can’t take advantage of the wide toe box because the rest of my foot is so restricted. I wore a 7.5 in the previous models, so I ordered that size for this model as well, and I feel as though I should have gone up a half size to be more comfortable. It’s not as if they don’t fit, I just wear thinner socks now to make sure I have a good fit. Overall, I do love the look of these sneakers, but I’m not sure if I will buy them again in the future if they keep making the shoe too narrow. I don’t order wide sizes in any other brand, so this narrow midfoot trend of theirs is interesting to me.

I have been running in the Torin 8's for the last year. My feet started hurting and I came to realize that I had 566 miles on those. First thinking it was a new problem with the Torin model itself, I tried some other models at a local running shoe store. As soon as I put the Torin 9s on they felt great! I have a wider foot and I try to size up to accommodate natural swelling from running. The store fitted me as about a size 6.5 so I got these in a 7.5. I probably could have gone to an 8, but that felt like there would be slippage if I did. I actually like that these have narrowed up some, they look a lot better in appearance with this change, and sizing up works for me. It amazed me how much better my feet felt running in these compared to the 8's with high miles. My pace was actually dwindling and is now picking back up to what it used to be. I do suffer a prior peroneal tendon issue and perhaps some plantar facitis, but getting new shoes has made a huge difference, especially in the aggravated peroneal tendon. Turns out the worn out shoes were re-aggravating it.

These shoes hit my ankle bone. After having to give away my Torin 7 because they hit my ankle bone so bad I was worried about bruising, I though the changes made since then would help. I was wrong. Instead, they still hit my ankle bone and the toe box feels narrower. It seems like the wide toe box, which is the best thing about Altra, just keeps getting smaller and smaller. Disappointed.
