I loved my wide width Torin 8’s. Ordered the same size and width in the 9 and knew as soon as I opened the box that they would not be wide enough. They are so tight in the toe box both in width and length. I don’t have near the wiggle room as I did with the 8s. I go back to work at a very busy elementary school in 2 days and bought these specifically to keep my feet (and the rest of me) feeling good all day. Now I have no shoes and am crying in frustration, Altra used to be the only shoes that gave my toes the wiggle room they needed. I was so excited. Now I have to start the long process of returning them, and waiting for my credit back on my card so I have money to get another pair. I can’t even rate any of the shoes other features because my toes are so cramped. Why do you have to change a good thing? Looks like I am not the only buyer with this issue.

Sizing inconsistent

Want to let people know that sizing may be inconsistent. I own the pine color in a 9 and love them. I ordered a 9 in black and they are much shorter and tight in the toe. I have to return and reorder in a larger size. So inconvenient.

the cushion level was great. I got my usual size and same size as my other altra's, but these fit no snug in the toe. i wore them once for a walk and returned them right after.

First Torin

I have avoided Altra shoes for years as the one pair I purchased had the toe rubber melt off in normal 100 degree heat.
Went to Fleet Feet and tried on Torin 9. I agree that toe box is small. I dislike the tongue material as it has no padding, feels crunchy. But the pain on the bottom of my foot liked the softer footbed. Has a bounce feel, absorbing the slap down of my metatarsals.
For me the Torin 9 works. But I do wonder why shoe manufacturers feel they have to keep changing shoes that already have a good reputation.

Disappointing

I loved running in the previous versions of the Torin, but this new version feels completely different and made my Achilles tendon flare up after only a few short runs. It feels very firm, not the plush ride that I've come to expect from this shoe.
The fit is very different too, it's not as deep in the instep so I have to loosen the laces a lot to make it roomier, but the laces aren't long enough to make it as comfortable as I would like. Taking out the insole helped, but then I started getting a blister. And I don't have a high instep, my foot is on the flatter and narrower side, and this shoe is still too tight.

I really love that they have vastly improved these shoes over the 8’s. I’ve been wearing Torins since the very first one and the 8’s were terrible. The only things I wish they would do is put a little bit longer shoelaces and better colors! I want fun colors for my running shoes.
