Sizing is way off

I wrapped this last night as a Christmas gift and there is no way it will work. It's labeled as a medium but it looks like at least an XL. It's HUGE. I paid an absurd amount for this item, way more than I would normally spend (i really liked the design and talked myself into it) but I'm really disappointed that no one caught this error through production. I wrapped it anyway so my Husband can open a gift I will have no choice but to return. Not happy! Was a waste of $120!!
No, I do not recommend this product.
