First Rate Piece of Kit

I have used both the jacket and pants on a rainy paddling day. The OutDry Extreme seems to live up to it's claim that it is breathable, stops the rain and does not wet out. It is also very light to pack and to wear, and is actually relatively form fitting compared to crinkly Gortex. I have a lot of various wet weather gear. I have spent years sailing and I also hunt in the autumn and do river wilderness tripping by canoe in the spring, summer and autumn. I insist on top notch gear and rain gear is one of the most important. The OutDry extreme is a product that Columbia should be very proud of. There is nothing else like it on the market. Some of my other Gortex clothing is very good, however, in long term rain they can start wetting out. Also they tend to be more bulky and don't pack as well. So far Columbia's OutDry Extreme fits all my needs as described above. A reminder. Don't feel that because you buy one size for your jacket that you should get the same size for your pants. My jacket is a large and my pants are a medium as I have a narrower waist. The size is perfect for me.

Yes, I recommend this product.

OutDry gear is the best!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Best jacket ever! If you trek to the Cotopaxi, Ecuador, this is your gear at 15,700ft at base camp with a summit of 19,347ft. Combined with the pants or overalls, you're essentially in a environment suit. Light, breathable, movable, and protective gear from the elements (sun, wind, cold, snow, specks of volcanic sand). Compared to heavy, bulky, puffy wear from outer hikers, this was absolutely the best way to go! Be sure to get the Columbia hiking boot that attach to the bottom of the pants. Now you're good to go!

OutDry 2.0: makes you look forward for rainy days

I've had an OutDry Extreme jackets before but this Wyldwood feels like a mature evolution of initial OutDry issues. First, all zippers work! Then, the outer layer no longer feels like a "plastic bag" and the interior lining is soft and comfy, reminiscent of my 3L GTex jackets. The only thing that annoys me a bit are the pockets that also serve as vents and start quite high rather than typical jacket pockets.
