Versatile rain jacket, excellent in rain.

I purchased last fall, outstanding performance, comparable to the Arcadia style but longer and keeps you dry! Used for walks, hiking and in winter w fleece. Excellent purchase.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

I have been on the hunt for a longer raincoat that covers my rear. I have a "regular" length Columbia raincoat that I love. This one is great and will be in heavy rotation. I got the Greenscape color. I am 5'5" and wear a women's 16. I got an XXL to be able to wear a sweatshirt or sweater under it. It is generously sized. I might have been able to go XL. I knocked a star off for 2 things that others have raised here. The hood is pretty much useless as it either falls in your eyes or flops backwards. Point 2 is that in my other Columbia rain jacket you can tighten the cuffs with a strap to stop water or wind from blowing up your sleeve. The Weekend Adventure has one snap that tightens the cuff by about an inch. That is not going to keep water or wind out.

I bought this for my trip to Scotland and it performed well in the torrential rain and wind I experienced in the Hebrides. I only dislike 2 things about this: The first is the hood. There is not a drawstring to tighten the hood, and the it was no match for the gale force winds I experienced, and the embedded odor in the jacket material , despite several pre-departure washings, and hanging it separately from my other clothing. I just washed it again, twice, and the odor is still as strong and noxious as when I took it out of the packaging. Otherwise, I remained dry from the neck down, the jacket was very breathable, and I was covered to my knees and dry.

I am disappointed about the pockets being shallow. Everything else is alright

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unflattering for short and/or chesty women. Waist cinch too low, sleeves wouldn’t tighten enough. Hood is great but not wind or waterproof for a rain coat.

Let Down: Waterproofing Failed in 90 Minutes

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm a Columbia Sportswear loyalist through and through, but this jacket didn't do its job. I purchased it earlier this year and have worn it 2-3 times on "just in case it rains" days here in the Pacific Northwest. I recently took it on a trip to Scotland. On a particularly rainy and windy day, I wore the jacket for a short hike. I found out the hard way that there is no way to adjust the tightness of the hood or the sleeves at the wrists. Due to wind, I had to use my hand to hold my hood in place to keep my head and face out of the rain. After 90 minutes out in the elements, we arrived back at the car and I found the sweatshirt I wore under the jacket was damp leaving me chilled and wet - not ideal on a day adventuring around the Isle of Skye...or ever, really. The pros: Length Adjustable cinch waist The cons: Doesn't withstand actual rain No cinch to tighten the hood No adjustability at wrists on the sleeves Sleeves a little too short for me, personally (take this with a grain of salt, I have long arms) No armpit vents to cool off once you get going on a nice hike Unfortunately, I can't recommend.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Smelly

I have never been bothered by a smell from new clothing before: I wonder if this was sent to me worn. I am not using this jacket because what I thought was a chemical smell that would dissipate with gentle wash and airing out seems more like BO concentrated in the armpits. Not sure whether to gamble with sending it back based on warranty. Quite expensive for a stinky, unusable jacket.
