Good entry level Mountain Bike

Purchased this about a month ago when it was on summer sale - and it's been a great experience so far. Gears shift smoothly and the bike overall is well constructed. The handlebars are wider than what I am previously used to (had trail bikes), and the extra wide 2.3 inch tires means you have to pedal a bit harder, but it's all good. I love the quick release front wheel option which means I can put the bike inside my station wagon when needed. Jury is still out on the disc brake design - not as grabby as traditional rim brakes. Overall good for hitting forest trails.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Not bad for 40% off but could be better.

Bought for my 5'5 gf who I assume will love this bike (I do not). 3 stars for the bike. 2 stars for the service and presentation. Upon pick up the front brake could be fully engaged and the bike still rolled. They adjusted both brakes but that was bad to overlook in the first place. The front fork is scuffed pretty bad where it meets the hub. Not an issue to some but to me it is. It's like buying a used bike. People told me "aren't you going to ride it and scuff it?" but actually no, I don't think my gf would scuff this that bad by city riding. It's about the principal and selling what is advertised as "new", even on sale. The front fork is ample and plushy for city curbs, I'm glad I didn't get the one with 55mm. The gears shift smoothly. There's no bar code so I can't register the bike. I've looked all over for it. There's a dot of purple marker on the frame. The brakes are terrible - worse than my dated Supercycle's v-brakes. While they can get to full braking power it takes way too long and in an even mildly sketchy situation these won't slow you as fast as you'd need. These are not "safe" to use for even casual riding. It was recommended that I get a hydraulic conversion kit which will cost $300 USD for the calipers alone, not including the rotors, housings, pads, cables and possibly levers. That is a must have. After that problem is fixed I think this will be a great bike. Compared to my diamondback highline 1 that I bought from the same sportchek the brakes are a major short fall if not the only. If you're serious about biking get the highline 1 - it's $300 more and worth every penny at 40% off, there's a lot less to go wrong with it and everything from the pedals, shifters/drivetrain, tires, fork and brakes are much better, I cannot out-ride my highline 1. The frame (to a degree, they are different sizes), seat and bars are the same from what I can tell. Quick release wheels and seat on both. I might return this if they have a highline 1 in a small but I don't think they do.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Bike Never Arrived

I ordered this bike and received a shipping notification the next day as well as charges to my credit card. The other items I ordered (water bottle holder for the bike) arrived in 2 days but no bike. Three weeks later and still no bike or update to the shipping from Purolator. I had several tickets and customer service chats with Sportchek to try and get the bike I had paid for. Alas, the bike never arrived and now the bike was out of stock. Sportchek would not price match the sale price I had bought this bike with on the exact same model in a different color. I ended up accepting a refund and buying a bike at another vendor. Wasted 3 weeks of our short summer season.

No, I do not recommend this product.
