    Inreach Mini 2

Bought this unit to replace an old one from another brand. Haven’t used it yet but the setup process couldn’t have been any easier. And it’s Garmin, so what else really needs to be said? Expecting perfect performance and reliability. The long battery life and recharge ability, along with the very attractive sale price, made this choice a no-brainer.

A friend of mine did not want the in reach any longer so I purchased it from him. We were 50 miles offshore with no cell service and 2 was able to keep in touch with the wife during the whole trip.

Used on the PCT so family members could be reassured with my inreach mini. Not easy to use. Many times recipients for my check ins and messages did not receive them until later either hours and even days! Frustrating also, most times, garmin said check ins or messages could not be sent because of weak signal. However, I was in open skies overhead. My big complaint is that i was unable to know whether check-ins and messages were sent. The only way I knew was by actually calling by iPhone. So was a garmin any good or use. Remains questionable.

My new inReach Mini 2 is simple, reliable, pairs easily with my phone so I can type messages there and has unfailing satellite connection. Plus I got it at a great price! It has everything I need and nothing I don't. It's much better than the previous two satcomm devices I used.

This is a great little device to give you and your family some peace of mind! Subscription plans can be stopped and started easily, the app interface is intuitive and logical. Well worth the investment!

Difficult to use to send actual texts with + without phone app. I tested before a trip to remote area and seemed to work fine but then once there no one could get my texts using the Mini 2 alone or using app. The weather update feature did work fine. Should come with better instructions and I still need to resolve the texting issue with Garmin. Would recommend purchasing another device with better instruction/ease of use.
