Garmin Instinct Solar Tactical Fitness Watch with Heart Rate Monitoring

Great battery life for a smart watch with tons of functions.

Gps is spot on, buttons work even when wearing gloves, and the battery lasts about 20 days with blood ox turned off. the solar and tactical stuff is a bit gimiky but it's worth it for the better GPS and battery. None of these were deal breakers for me but might annoy others: no Google/Apple pay, you need to use the Garmin connect app (works fine for me but it won't sync to google fit), and the screen is monochrome E-ink. I personally find the E-ink easier to read in sunlight compared to conventional screens and the backlight is practically a flashlight in the dark, bit it's very distinctive. There are also no community watch faces due to the very odd form factor but you can heavily customize the pre-installed ones to display tons of information.

Exceptional smart watch function thru my iPhone, on-watch button functions take some getting used to, however not really a surprise and expected that given versatility of watch. Comfortable, lightweight & appears to be very solidly built (not nearly as heavy as a couple of the old metal watches that I find myself wearing less & less). For me, solar aspect was 'the sell', so far, not disappointed.

Ok, I tend to be a stickler about flaws in products. The design of this watch is fantastic. The case material isn’t cheap plastic, it’s got a good feel to it. Buttons are responsive and placed in a way that seems ergonomic. Pretty much everything is customizable. Battery life is something you can change and manage as is needed depending on how you’re using it. The simplicity of the black & white screen is what gives it amazing battery life and it feels like a military tool more so than a fad fitness watch. Size and comfort of the watch is great as well. You really can’t even tell you are wearing it. It’s light and stretch rubber band.. so it’s something you want to wear all the time. The solar works even on a cloudy day. Sleep tracking is excellent with the pulse ox. I could keep going.. the feature I use most often and the reason I chose this watch is the stealth mode feature. I’m sensitive to emf frequencies, cell signals, Bluetooth and all that. This watch you can easily bounce back and forth when necessary to avoid constant exposure. It tracks data during sleep on stealth. Basically the perfect watch. Worth the money. This is not the regular instinct, it’s a huge upgrade.
