The backpack arrived and my 9-y/o is stoked. Less cool - there are no external straps on the bottom, or back, that would hold a thermarest or other sleeping pad. These are light but bulky items, so they are perfect for a kid to haul, if only there was a good way to attach. We'll probably stick it under the pack's brain - but the brain is attached above the shoulder straps - so it is not adjustable to best fit the pad.

Poorly designed fit

I really wanted this pack to work for my 10 year old daughter, but it's just not built with kids in mind. First, the smallest size was way to big for my 10 year old. I assumed that a 30L Backpacking pack would be designed to fit 8-12 year olds but this "Kids pack" goes up to an adult medium?? In fact it's largest torso size on this bag is bigger than my adult Gregory Palisade pack. Why not start with a smaller fit, and end before the XS adult size starts to truly make it a kids pack? Other issues we found was that it's top lid sits way too close to the head and doesn't allow kids to look up even slightly. The frame also had a weird lump in the lumbar area. where it looks like the internal frame was too long for the pack. All in all, it was disappointing and would need a lot of work to fit as well as their adult bags.

Thanks for leaving your feedback regarding our Wander 30 as your experience can help guide parents when making pack purchases. As you mentioned, age cannot be used to determine pack fit. A torso measurement is key to finding the right pack. Our Wander fits torsos 13-18 inches. If a pack that is too long for the hiker, it will not sit properly on the back and the lid will also be too tall.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Wander 30 is absolutely perfect for my bigger kid. Size fits great on them and it’s big enough to carry everything needed on a longer day hike. It also fits me and would work for an adult as well looking for a smaller pack. We love it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received this wander 30 bag in gorgeous blue color and instantly fall in love with it. Favorite feature would be it’s very lightweight still very sturdy and weatherproof material. It has lots of pockets and tons of space for all your traveling needs. Our kid has used it for three days camping trip and very pleased with it. Definitely recommend it for all outdoor trips.

Has a pouch on the waist. The shoulder straps are padded and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Wander 30 backpack by Gregory in Pacific Blue is extremely well made. It is a very bright color which is wonderful while hiking. It is easily seen. It has many pockets and holds a lot of gear. I love the waist strap too!
