Weak fabric/rough edge on steel hook

I bought a pair last spring and used them about once or twice a week for some deadlifts. No more than 160 lbs for 3 sets of 12. After about a month small tears started on the end of the hook and got progressively worse. Today the fabric completely tore open, allowing the metal hook to come out completely, rendering these useless.The end of the steel hook is not very smooth, causing the steel to wear through the fabric much sooner than it was probably designed to.
