Great bike, I have been riding GT bikes for over 25 years and the new Zaskar is nicely equipped and a great hardtail on my local trails

Hard Charging Hardtail

This version of the Zaskar is a hard charging animal! Out of the box and onto the the trails. Handled the north shore and Squamish mountains with a breeze! Brakes are underpowered but for the average rider that won’t matter, they stop on a dime. Components are top quality SRAM NX components and sram SX 12 speed cog set. Comes with a 130mm rockshox Gold 35! BEEFY STANTIONS! Glad it comes with a dropper post and tubeless ready rims (tires it comes with are not, I have upgraded my tires) Purchased it during friends and family 25% off and was offered 15% off additionally with their MasterCard. THATS A WHOPPING 45% OFF! Wish it came with a longer travel fork. It’s 130 and can be safely increased to 150mm, anything more will increase the slack head angle putting to much force on the head tube. (Does void the warranty)

Solid Components!

Bought it in March. Been ripping it on some flow trails through Squamish and it handles very well. Seat is uncomfortable (for me anyways) however it is a high quality seat. Components are tough and dependable. Rims a tubeless ready, tires are not. Excellent bike for anyone looking to get into mountain biking without going all in with a full suspension.

No one knows how to assemble the bike.

It's very unfortunate tht nobody knows how to assemble the seat post with the hydraulic brake when we went to the sport check store. I am very disappointed because I had to spend more money to have it assembled to a bike shop when in fact, I already spent so much for the bike itself. It's a shame that they don't know how to do it. The truth is, he never had a chance to assemble high end bikes but he is a really nice guy. I think you need to have a training for your technicians to assemble even high end bikes not just the regular that you can see int he store so that when they encounter one, they can do it right away.

Good Bike Mechanics Needed

GT Zaskar LT Expert 29 Large.
I do think the bike is excellent.
I was disappointed because of the setup. The dropper seatpost cable was cut before finding out the rider's height, which is 6'0", preventing a proper fit. The disc brake rotors were rubbing against the brake pads. There were other more minor things that needed adjustment. I lost confidence in the bike mechanics and returned the bike. I have bought six GT bikes from SportChek; this would have been my 7th.
