At 30 litres, this pack is great for a family day hike or as a person item for an airplane. I would give up the pole loops at the top for some extra small pockets on the exterior for smaller items. The water bottle holders have straps that you can tighten, but the shape of the pouch is angled and causes the water bottle to pop out if the pack is laid down. Not a deal breaker though. Great for hiking without a tablet or laptop. Some packs have a larger dedicated area for electronics, this one has a simple and discreet sleeve that takes up very little space. This leaves the majority of the 30 litres for anything you can cram into it. It has a nice zipper opening at the bottom for shoes or other items. Great for when you want something from the bottom but don’t want to empty the whole thing out. A small mesh pocket is located inside the top which is great for snacks, glasses or other items you don’t want to get crushed by your gear. I can’t guarantee it’s completely waterproof as it doesn’t have a fly over the top, but I prefer the simple double zipper for quick and easy access. Overall an excellent pack over all. Shoulder straps are padded and are full length, which is appreciated when carry a heavy load along with the kidney straps that are easy to adjust. The back padding has a nice mesh padding to help keep you from getting too sweaty. Keep in mind that 30L is quite large and more than I would need for 1 person. Great for a family or a group day trip.
