Helly Hansen Women's Vancouver Insulated Long Rain Jacket

There are a lot of good things about this jacket: the fit, the length, the design, the zippers on the pockets, and the more insulated nature of it, but it's still not worth it because it has VELCRO! I wore it around the house before committing to it for a trip and the many pieces of velcro that run parallel the zipper to keep the flap closed get caught on everything - a scarf, your sweater, the cuffs of the jacket (which also have exposed velcro), and then when taking it off, it even got stuck to our carpet. It's fine while it's closed, but as soon as you're taking it on or off, it will get stuck on (and potentially wreck the fabric of) something. This also means you have to leave it closed all the time if you want to avoid that, and while thinking about using it on a city trip where it will be cool and rainy outside but comfortable in a mall, for example, I'll want it on but open as it will likely be too warm inside given the insulation (never mind if I were trying on clothes so it had to come on and off more frequently). It also means you can't take your jacket off quietly in public (theatre, gallery, restaurant, etc.). Velcro also catches lint and strings and inevitably gets full of loose fibres so it both looks sloppier and becomes less effective over time. I do not understand this choice. It reminds me of sneakers for toddlers with velcro flaps and that's how I feel when taking it off and making that distinct (and loud) velcro sound. Should you choose to not be as annoyed by velcro as me, it could be a good jacket. My only other function-related complaint would be that the pockets are a little tricky to pull things (like a phone) in and out of with ease. The design is great for not having things fall out, but given the pockets also have zippers, the design became a bit more of a nuisance than an asset.

I really wanted a blue jacket so I’m keeping it but don’t really like having Velcro instead if snaps as they always end up getting full of hair etc…I find this is more cheaply made and wish the HH label was white and embroidered and nit just stamped..

Bought this jacket for my mother and she likes it a lot. Not quite as heavy as she thought, but great for shoulder seasons. Great gift and length is perfect.

Coat arrived yesterday. I am very happy with the fit. Colour is exactly as I expected. Haven’t worn the coat yet, but am vey pleased with the quality.

I am a person who is always cold in damp rain. When I wear this coat it feels very windproof and waterproof and leaves me feeling warm on the inside.. I love how it goes down over my bottom too to keep the rain off.

Bought this jacket 2 weeks ago I find the zipper is very keeps opening at the bottom . So will have to return it .
