    Best base layer

    Icebreaker has been my go-to for years. This shirt in particular fits well and is exactly the right weight for me and my outdoors-in-winter Alaska activities. It’s not too tight (I size up one size so I have wiggle room) and it’s easy to push up the sleeves comfortably if I need to, or to take it off and tie around my waist. I usually pair it with a T-shirt or tank that is also merino.

    I used this in an event and an extra layer for a brisk early morning start. It managed the moisture from sweat well as the day warmed up and there was no chafing. The fit was as described and flattering for an athlete of average build. I consider it a valuable addition to my event and training wardrobe. I really enjoy all of the icebreaker products that I have purchased so far. Check this one out for sure!

    This is my 2nd Icebreaker Shrit. I love this shirt because it's so lightweight but still warm. I used it initially for a winter trip to Iceland, but it's become one of my favorite cold weather shirts for all winter. It's great for most outdoor activities, and perfect for anyone who likes to stay warm without bulk.

    Loving the snug, but not quite base-layer, fit! I ordered a Small, and usually wear a Small in all tops (size 2-4). It's somewhere between a light and mid weight and I can wear it casually or while recreating. Very soft and the sleeves don't have those silly thumb holes!

    This is the go to brand for my wife when it comes to merino wool. It works well as a base layer because it's breathable, kept her warm, and it did not irritate her skin. The merino wool worked well not retaining foul odors compared to other fabrics.
