[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Oh man. I love this thing. I have had an MSR whisperlite stove since I was like 14, and although it is reliable it gets pretty annoying having to carry around liquid fuel, compress it, get the valve turned to EXACTLY the right openness, and keeping it lit, all while you’re hungry, cold, and probably trying to hide out from the rain. This thing though, holy cow. It fires right up. Every single time, put it together, attach a fuel can, turn the knob and you’re golden. No fuss, every time it just lights up and is ready to go. And it cooks FAST, I didn’t time it but I was shocked by how fast it got water to a boil, even when I was heating up almost a full liter. It was nuts. And the best part? It all packs down into the main cup, and weighs almost nothing, so you can toss it right in your pack, or attach it to the outside with a carabiner and forget that it’s there until you need it most. Absolutely stoked about this thing, thank you Jetboil for letting me test this thing out!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am thoroughly impressed with the new Jetboil Flash 1.8 design. It has maintained all the characteristics we love: being ultra fast (boils in just under 2 minutes), packable and compact (just a bit bigger than my nalgene and fully self contained), fuel efficient (I've boiled water for my french press all week and still going strong), good at high altitude, and durable, while also making some major improvements. The new handles are rigid plastic instead of the canvas strap, making pouring feel more controlled and secure and preventing the sleeve from slipping down near the flame where it can melt. It also features a control knob more like a conventional stove, replacing the ignition button on earlier models that sometimes failed after use. The knob also adjusts temperature, making simmering/cooking a more realistic option than in earlier models. My older model Flash also had some difficulties locking into the base, but this updated version locks on smoothly and easily, and the wider base makes it feel extremely secure and steady. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the product and it will be my new go to stove for both recreational trips and for my work as an alpine and splitnoard guide. Disclaimer: I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review.

Jetboil's Flash unit gets a makeover

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Jetboil gave me this free product to try, I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review. At this point, not many are a stranger to Jetboil as a house name in the world of hiking and camping stoves, cookware, and accessories. They have been in this industry since the early 2000s offering mainly all-in-one units that combine the fuel management system, burner, and cooking vessel into a single combined unit. Since then they have expanded and iterated on these lines to provide the fuel efficient, packable, durable cooking stoves we have today. Since growing up hiking in the foothills of Appalachia, I haven’t always had a Jetboil in my pack, but there’s been one more times than not. Having hiked thousands of miles over the course of multiple decades, I’ve had the opportunity to use many different types of cooking stoves from many different brands. Despite that, I have always found myself coming back to all-in-one cooking solutions, mainly from Jetboil. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of using a Zip 0.8L V1.0, a MicroMo 0.8L V2.0, a Zip 0.8L V3.0, and now a Flash 1.8L from their 2025-2026 upgrade. The Jetboil Flash 1.8L is designed as a fast-boiling size upgrade to its 1.0L little brother. The increased size allows for the stove to be used for larger groups of people, with a suggestion of 2-4. The unit boasts a redesigned base with integrated fuel valve and piezoelectric ignitor built into the fuel valve knob. The whole system is compact and generally lightweight coming in at about 2.2L and 531g without fuel. I had the pleasure of using this unit over the course of two multi-day trips in the northern Rockies of Montana. My impression of the unit was that, while not the absolute lightest or smallest or highest kW output, it performs extremely well as a universal cooking stove for small groups with excellent ergonomics and versatility. Speaking of ergonomics, the one thing that struck me above all else was the new handle design. While this does add some additional weight over the former synthetic strap on the neoprene sleeve, these handles are a god-send and should be added to every single appropriately sized stove-unit produced by Jetboil. As for performance, it was exactly as expected of a Jetboil, It boiled water for meals quickly, taking a couple minutes to reach a rolling boil. A 230g canister, which is appropriately sized for the pot diameter, was used for both trips and was not finished over the course of the 6 days of outings. The integrated piezoelectric ignitor is conveniently built into the fuel control knob and ignites when turned past the high-flow setting. As with all of Jetboil’s units, the stabilizer that attaches to the fuel canister works wonders, being as stable as anyone could ask for even then the pot is filled to the max. All in, Jetboil’s new Flash 1.8L stove unit provides end-users with a durable, efficient, packable, and versatile solution for cooking for multiple individuals while updating and upgrading from models of the past.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this Jetboil 1.8L stove in exchange for an honest review, and if your main goal is boiling water fast with minimal hassle, this thing absolutely brings the heat. The updated cup is a big upgrade—more practical, easier to handle, and no longer feels like a game of “will I burn my hand today” roulade. Honestly, it’s wild how much of a difference two small handles can make. Where it really shines is speed. Turn it on, look away for a second, and you’re basically already at a boil. That said, it’s still more of a water wizard than a camp chef. I tried making soup, and even on low heat it needed constant stirring to avoid turning into a burnt offering at the bottom. Not related to the rating, but the 1.8L size feels like a bit much for most trips—especially for one or two people living the dehydrated meal life. And like all Jetboil Flash systems, it does take up more pack space than other setups, which is probably my biggest gripe. That extra bulk does come with a silver lining though: everything nests together beautifully. The cup, base, and stabilizer all fit together so cleanly it feels like a well-designed puzzle (without the frustration and time consumption). No instructions needed—it’s all pretty intuitive, which makes setup and packing quick and painless. Overall,if you’re the crazy guy or gal packing around a ziplock of corned beef hash that you prepared the night before— your fancy food might end up burnt, but for the rest of us that sustain ourselves by boiling water it’s hard to beat. When it’s cold, dark, and you’re running on fumes, shaving minutes off cook time feels like a luxury. On trips when I can spare the space this is an easy go to.

Fast, Compact, and Trail-Ready: A Go-To Stove for Quick Boils

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been using the Jetboil Flash 1.8L on trail runs and quick overnights, and it’s become a go-to piece of gear for its speed and simplicity. It boils water incredibly fast—typically around 2–3 minutes—making it perfect when you just want hot coffee or a meal without waiting around. The all-in-one design is a big win too, with everything nesting neatly inside the pot so it takes up minimal pack space. Lighting it is effortless thanks to the push-button ignition, which has been consistently reliable for me. The FluxRing system also helps keep fuel use efficient, so you get plenty of boils per canister if you’re mainly heating water. Stability is solid with the included fuel canister stabilizer, giving it a secure feel even on uneven ground. This system really shines for boiling water for freeze-dried meals and drinks. While it’s not built for complex cooking, it covers the essentials extremely well and can be expanded with accessories if needed. Overall, it’s a fast, efficient, and dependable stove for real-world backcountry use. Jetboil gave me this free product to try. I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review.

The ideal stove for my Wife and I!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Jetboil gave me this free product to test. When it comes to how quickly this heats up, I was thoroughly impressed. After boiling water around 10 times, it took on average about 4 minutes to boil roughly 1 liter. This was great for my wife and me because we could boil enough water for both of us in under 10 minutes. At first, I was a little concerned about how well the larger pot would pack. After using it, though, I found the design very convenient. Being able to store the burner and accessories inside the pot made it compact and easy to fit in a backpack. While I didn’t camp in temperatures below 32°F, the Jetboil never had any issues lighting. The push-button igniter was a great feature and quickly became one of my favorites since I didn’t need to carry a lighter or matches. I mainly used the stove to boil water for dehydrated meals for my wife and me. The same fuel canister lasted through roughly five camping trips, which showed how fuel-efficient the system is. It was super nice having the versatility to be able to cook dinner with a compact cooking stove for more than one person at a time. The adjustable heat was also super helpful in cooking different things like coffee. Overall, I found the Jetboil to be fast, efficient, and easy to use. The stability of the unit and the larger pot size make it a great option for cooking for more than one person while camping or hiking.

    Flash Boil Test

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Flash Boil 1.8 liter for free as part of product testing in exchange for my honest review. Thank you, Jet Boil! As for the product itself, I found it to be a great improvement on the previous generation of flash boil products. I had a 1-liter version of the previous generation. Unfortunately, the new one improves some things but takes a step back on others. It took 11-12 minutes to bring a liter of water to a rolling boil, which is much slower than some other stoves that I have used. That is my biggest complaint with this stove. Everything else was great; the igniter worked on every single try, even in snowy conditions like I was in. The new flip-out handles are a big improvement over the strap-style handles. I also appreciate the inclusion of a fuel can stand, a bag to hold the stove, and protective caps for the heating element. Overall, I do like this product, and it does its job well, especially the igniter, but the time it takes to boil is certainly longer than I would expect from a dedicated water boiling device.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review. I loved using my new Jetboil Flash 1.8L to heat up some water for the crew in the basin of Mayflower Gulch. We had just hiked up and were feeling a little chilly. The water boiled quickly and the heat indicators on the side were awesome for knowing exactly when the water was ready. I made myself some ramen in the attached bowl which was a nice salty snack. The stove was perfect for the group and much lighter weight than I expected. I was able to put everything in the cup of the stove as well - the gas can, the stove itself, the base, and even the two cups that we used for tea. I didn’t end up using the stabilizing tripod because the stove felt extremely stable in the snow. I wasn’t really sure if I should unscrew the stove when the water was done and just picked up the whole thing to make tea and food. It worked!
