My trusted companion

The minimo is the only backpacking stove I've owned and it's served me well over the past 8-9 years. I've used light weight set ups and other burner/pot pairs that belong to my friends. Nothing suits me as well as the minimo. Over those 8-9 years, I've gone from just car camping to also backpacking. This system is still what I take for both assuming I'm not with a large group and planning a big dinner on my car camping outings. I've done my research on the latest and greatest online multiple times, and my conclusion is always to keep my minimo, despite only boiling water in it 99% of the time. A small fuel canister fits into the pot with the burner out of the included bag and oriented sideways. A fuel canister stand and a lid with a hole for pouring and small holes for straining are included. The canister stand clicks nicely into the bottom of the lid for packing. The base cover doubles as a measuring cup along with measurement lines in the pot itself. Capacity is a little more than 3 cups. Going over 3 cups with just water can be iffy as it will boil over the sides if left to boil too long, making it hard to turn the burner off. There's a built in ignitor, and the fuel level is highly adjustable. The pot and handles are nicely insulated, but the lip of the pot is exposed, so you can't drink straight from it. The lid has proven less than water tight in my experience. It's fine for draining water and maybe pouring, but I wouldn't drink out of it. Best to pour your drink in something else. Both the lid and the base cover have become quite loose fitting over time. Some sort of band or clamp to hold the system together is recommended for long term use. Certainly something you could easily diy. You will also most likely crack the base cover. Jetboil says there's a specific way to get it off and on. I'm never that careful when I'm backpacking. Reviews on the replacement base cover on this website show cracking is a common occurrence. All the people that have left those reviews inspired me to simply slap a piece of shipping tape around the cracked base cover instead of replacing it. It's still water tight for measuring since I did that 3 or 4 years ago. It doesn't stay as snuggly affixed to the base anymore, but I've found this to be of little consequence. Again, something to hold the packed system together would easily fix the issue. The minimo is certainly not the lightest stove set up out there, but it takes the guess work out of buying all the pieces yourself by putting them all in the box up front. As is jetboils trademark, the corrugation on the bottom of the pot boils water super fast. This is the one and only piece of gear I've never found a good enough reason to replace and it's not for a lack of trying. I'd buy it again, although the only one I've ever owned shows no signs of slowing down after nearly a decade!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Low profile better storage option for loadout box

I’m loving the size of this MiniMo. I have not used it yet, as I’ve purchased in my off season but I’m looking forward to having it in my loadout box. The lower profile will allow me to use it in a Yeti Loadout box, that I use for most activities. The other models are taller, which I do keep in my camper and my backpacking box.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Stove they sent me was in a box that was destroyed, stove seemed to be ok. This was after they had been sending me the wrong stove twice in a row. Horrible to deal with when issues happen, which happen alot.
