Replacement

This sandal replaces a similar 5 year old sandal. Living in the south I wear them through 3 seasons. The arch support and Velcro rear strap is a plus.

Bought as a replacement of Newport sandal

I love Keen footwear. However, I have found that the Newport sandals retain sweat and foot odor. I have been very displeased with that model. My feet normally don't smell, but when I wore the Newport's I could clear a room; socks, no socks it didn't matter.
I figured I'd try the rapids since they have a more open design. So far so good. These aren't as comfortable as the Newport's but they will do. I may come back and update this review if I have issues with comfort and/or wear.

Different from the Rialto

I loved the Rialto sandal because the Achilles heel strap could be repositioned over the Velcro strap & out of the way.
On this new design, now called the Rapids H2 Sandal, the Velcro strap can not be positioned to be out of the my heel's way. One side of the heel strap has a Keen logo affixed to the strap preventing the strap from being removed. The other side of the heel strap has the Velcro raised and thus prevents the strap from being removed.
Plus the Men's Rapids H2 Sandal is now manufactured overseas (in Cambodia).
The quality is good but the design, of the heel strap, fewer side straps holding the "laces," and the outer bottom sole makes this shoe not particularly to my liking.
I'm wearing it indoors with socks for another week before deciding to keep this Rapids H2 Sandal.
I'd love to bring my old Rialto's (I have 3 or 4 pairs in my closet with the outer edge of the heel worn down for resoling but I can't find a shoe repair shop which can find a similar outer bottom sole.
