Not a survivalist but like the idea of being able to drink my swimming pool if need be!

A bit of guesswork at the worst time

Not intuitive, the filter and lid don’t stop tightening at what should be their limit. So I ended up worried it wasn’t tight enough and both filter and cap were crooked and very difficult to remove. The instructions are garbage, no pictures to show what it’s really supposed to look like. There should be guidance on practicing setup before being stuck in a remote area with no cell data to know for sure if you set it up correctly. It is not easy to disconnect the filter you can’t grip it to loosen it. The syringe is completely useless. The cheap plunger is so flimsy it got stuck in the syringe tube, my thumbnail peeled right off trying to pry it open, causing injury (while in the bush). The plunger rubber did not seal in the tube so any pressure applied, water shot out the wrong end. Very disappointed, this caused more grief than relief, advertising for it was misleading.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Tough enough

The peak gravity filter system is well made and looks tough enough to withstand plenty of use. Haven't had it out on the trail yet but it' will be the perfect size for our family.

Great item- convenient & practical but straw slow

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I loved the idea and concept behind the filtering system. We used some fresh river water when we were walking some trails. The only downfall is it is hard to suck the water through the “straw” so it takes some getting used to. Other than that it is very convenient and we will use the system many more times. Just wish the flow was faster but again, I see this being for some more extreme circumstances and that is the reason we take it along with us.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great for large group car camping

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The pro's - this is a very large 8L bag and great for large groups, easy gravity flow design, the pre filter inside the filler neck is good to keep out the big debris. The cons - the filler neck is at the bottom of the bag so it cannot be filled while hanging, the pre-filter is difficult to remove and reinstall, the filter screws directly onto the fill cap making it difficult to remove and backslash without taking the bag down and tipping the bag upside down where as if it was an in line filter you could clamp the hose remove clean and be back to filtering quickly

Yes, I recommend this product.

Close to perfection but that's all you need!

BLUF ( Bottom Line Up Front): This is more than just a filtration system you take on a glamping trip. It serves several purposes that ALL can benefit from. Durable, efficient, versatile, and compact, you can keep this stored in your vehicle for emergency purposes, in your pack, and the pantry. You'd never have an excuse for not having clean water with this Filtration system. I've taken the new 8L Lifestraw Peak series Gravity filtration system on several different types of outdoor excursions. From glamping to Overlanding, day hikes to multiday mountaineering objectives, casual bike rides to backpacking, and even padel boarding. This product lives up to what Lifestraw advertises: Enhanced microfilter performance - meaning better performance against sand and silt and maintaining great flow over the long haul. It held up fine while collecting and filtering waters from lakes and glacier water. However, compared to Lifestraws competitors, the water flowing through the filter was slightly slower. But it never dwindled or slowed. Filtration was consistent throughout my testing. Ultra-compact - our filters are removable and re-configurable for ultimate packing flexibility. True and confirmed. I've managed to shove this system into a mid-size bike packing storage compartment on one side and filter/cap on the other. Ounces are pounds, and pounds are pain from a mountaineering/hikers perspective. This system can be packed down into the brain of a pack, side pockets, and even be thrown inside a pack, taking VERY little space, if any. Highly versatile - these systems were designed to be interchangeable and feature universal threading and connectors to make them as adaptable as possible to all your gear. I didn't have the pleasure of testing this out properly. But I can say that in a crunch, you can use this as a tried and true Lifestraw Peak Series Personal Water Filter Straw. The filtration system is small enough to fit through a Gatorade bottle; seal the exposed areas with duct/gorilla tape, and you have a Lifestraw Go bottle (sort-of-ish). Extreme durability - tougher, thicker, premium materials that won't puncture, tear, rip, crack, or burst. This couldn't be any more true than the words they used! I've had this attached to the outside of my pack (empty) while rock climbing and bushwhacking, with no tears, rips, or cracks. At base camp, top it off with good old glacier stream water, drop it on rocks, and it kept filtering, hydrating and providing clean water for dehydrated food.

Durable and good tasting

Lifestraw gave me this item to test for free. I used it while camping just outside of the boundary waters canoe area with a group of folks. Pros: Super durable. Large capacity. Water flows out at a good rate. Tastes better than any of the other water we drank. Areas for improvement: Was hard to fill the reservoir with lake water. Need a little carrying case for the backwash and plug so you don’t lose them. Overall, I’m super impressed with the quality of this product. It’s great for group camping in areas where there’s no reliable drinking water. I’ll definitely be using this again, many times.

I used this in a two day horsepack and it worked great. The flow never dwindled and I loved the sturdiness of it
