I purchased the Life traw for my emergency kit and haven't used it yet. I've been hearing alot of bad feedback of several straws that don't work and am hoping that this one will do the things that they are advertized to do. Didn't know of I use it to see if it works that I can still store after it's use for possibly long term?

It works well but you got to buy a Coca-Cola or a Sprite or a 20 oz bottle for it to school on the water bottles Zephyrhills or pure Life don't work if they're too small

We were gifted a LifeSraw pitcher by a family member who loved hers, and we became immediate converts, for many reasons. We ultimately upgraded from the plastic version to the glass one, and just love it. When issues started to arise in recent months about the security and stability of our water resources here in the North East, we did not hesitate to purchase LifeStraw Peak Series straws. We have not had to use them yet - and I hope we never do need to use them - but we take comfort in knowing if we ever do, we are prepared, with the gold standard for this type of item. We are very satisfied and continue to endorse LifeStraw products with friends and family at every opportunity.

So, this still does not make water safe to drink. It neutralizes some bacteria, but viruses could be present.
