Disappointing quality on an otherwise great shoe

I purchased these to replace my indestructible Merrells I've had for 20 years --- 2000+ kilometers of hiking and 50,000 metres of vertical and the sole finally separated from one shoe. I loved these Moab 3 Ultralights at first and wore them everywhere --- casual walking and serious mountain and coastal hiking. BUT...as others have commented, within 5 months the 'webbing' started to crack and delaminate, which is a pity. The shoes still function perfectly but they look kind of shabby.

This is definitely the best choice in terms of comfort, appearance, durability and affordability and in my opinion is unbeatable for light hiking during spring and summer in this price range. It bridges the gap between a heavy-duty hiking boot and a nimble trail runner, offering a versatile "fast-hiker" experience.

A few weeks in and the front above the toes is already scuffing off... nothing like the OG Moabs that last forever. They're good otherwise, lightly made is all. Tread is amazing for grip, sole is light, will need to replace it soon.

For daily use or random running trails?

If you want a shoe that is more for running on hiking trails, this may be for you. I wanted a shoe with more support - and ended up with a shoe that already feels like it's breaking down with daily use on normal (not hiking nor running) surfaces. My ankles and feet bother me at the end of the day that I have not had with previous Merrell VIBRAM products - and I've only been wearing them about a month and a half.

4.5 miles and 1300 feet of climbing on my first hike. No hot spots or discomfort. Great traction. These are my first low top hiking shoe and I really liked them. Looking forward to seeing how they hold up. But thus far, all good.
