I recently picked up the Merrell Men’s Thermo Akita Winter Boots, and overall I’m very satisfied with them.
Pros:
Warmth: These boots are seriously warm - perfect for cold Canadian winters. I’ve worn them in temperatures well below freezing and my feet stayed comfortable without needing extra socks.
Comfort: Right out of the box they felt comfortable. The cushioning and fit are great for all-day wear, whether I’m shoveling snow, walking around town, or heading out on trails.
Grip & Traction: The outsole provides excellent traction on icy and snowy surfaces. I feel confident walking on slick sidewalks.
Build Quality: They feel solid and well-made. The materials seem durable and able to handle rough winter conditions.
Cons:
Fit: They run a bit snug/tight (or roomy if that was your experience). I recommend trying them on with the socks you plan to wear before committing — or consider going half a size up if you’re between sizes.
Break-in Time: They were slightly stiff at first, but after a short break-in period (4-5 times) they became much more comfortable.
Overall:
These boots offer excellent warmth, comfort, and traction for winter weather. For the price point and performance, they’re a solid choice if you want dependable winter boots that can handle snow, cold, and slippery conditions.

Good Choice for Winter

Overall good boot and happy with the purchase. I've been wearing them in Canada winter days (0 to -12 C) to walk my dog. They are warm and dry! Top eyelet/clasp is well built. 9.5M is true to size, foot bed is a bit narrow. Would be nice if the laces had another inch or two so you could double-knot. So far no issues with the build quality and I've gone about 30km so far
