Comfortable and cute l

I bought these 2 days before a 4 day hiking trip in Moab and they were excellent! I didn’t even have to break them in. I am usually a 6.5 but found them a bit snug so sized up to a 7 and am very happy with my decision!

no foot support

I don't know where the shock absorption is supposed to be coming from, but my joints hurt so much after walking in these for 20 minutes. Not appropriate for any hard surfaces. My back tightened up, my knees hurt, my hips hurt, my neck hurt, and I am praying I can return these shoes even though I wore them. I didn't notice the lack of support while just walking around the store for a bit, it wasn't until I took the shoes out for a walk that I felt the pain. If there is such a thing as an anti-orthopedic shoe, this is it.
The only good thing I can say is that they fit really, really well. I got the wide size, and that was perfect.

Scotland and Ireland treated!

The were exactly what I needed to keep my feet dry and keep me vertical during my trip to Scotland and Ireland. They were super comfortable too! I have a high arch and I wear a metatarsal pad on my left foot. I had zero issues, dry feet after walking in the rain and through puddles, and no slipping the traction was on point

Excellent support & comfort, not fully waterproof

I love the support these give to my entire foot, exceptional! So important for a senior citizen. They were comfortable from day 1. And for the first few months, they were completely waterproof. I could walk through heavy dew in the grass, in cold weather, and my feet stayed toasty warm and dry. However, after about 3mos, the left shoe seems to leak, and I come home with a wet sock and cold damp foot, disappointing. Also, after ~4mos, the laces have started to fray; disappointing as I've had other shoes for years with no fraying. I would love to give these a 5* review as the shoe itself is best I've worn for walking/hiking.

These shoes are perfect for the Cotswalds

My shoes and I went to the Cotswalds for a 5-day walking/hiking trip with Backroads. The shoes were new, but comfortable and worked perfectly for this trip. We only had one day of rain, but that experience provided a good test for how waterproof the shoes are.

Not comfortable for mountain hiking

I’ve had Merrill boots before and have loved them. In fact these replaced another pair I had. Unfortunately these boots leave a lot to be desired. In the store trying them on, they felt comfortable and I was certain they would be a good replacement. However after using them for a couple hiking trips (first trip I thought it was my socks, second trip was no better) they are very uncomfortable…like walking on concrete for 5 hours; there is no cushion for the ball of the foot and walking over scree fields was pure torture. I will use these boots only for walking in snow around town.

Outstanding Hiking Shoe and Waterproof

I haven’t had the opportunity to wear those hiking shoes as yet, but they are a replacement for almost the identical shoe from Merrill that I bought some thirteen years ago and I still wear them. They are very comfortable and use for walking every spring and fall. The only reason why I am getting a replacement is that the soles are wearing and in wet or snowy weather they can get slippery. Those new ones have a tremendous grip which I will wear practically all winter too. I love the blue on grey, which is brighter than my old ones. I got them at a great sale at Sportschex online and they are great value for the money I paid. I also purchased a pair for my Husband who is fussy about his footwear and he loves them. As a bonus, these ones are waterproof. I highly recommend this hiking shoes.
