Dissatisfied customer

I have purchased two of the Milwaukee Bucks jerseys online for my grandson. The first one was too small, so my son returned to a Sport Chek in Langford BC. He was told the return could not be put back on my Mastercard because he did not have the card. Of course he didn't because it is my card and I live in Nova Scotia and they live in Sooke, BC. The store gave him a gift certificate. Yesterday, December 20th, I called customer service. The first representative was helpful and thought the returned purchase could be put back on my card. He placed me on hold and then I was speaking to another representative. She informed me I would have to take the card into the store in order to have the money returned to my card. The card is in BC and I am in Nova Scotia, which I explained to her. Her suggestion was have my son mail me the card. I explained to her again that my entire purchase was done online and that mailing the gift card back to me was not an acceptable. In the course of me explaining my situation, she hung up on me.
Sport Chek has all my pertinent information i.e. name, credit-card number, etc. I have the original order number and the gift card number.
I am very dissatisfied with the customer service representative. She was not able to give me any help or understanding. I will try again today to call customer service and hopefully get some help. I am not in a position to wait for a gift card to show up in the mail. I am a senior citizen on a fixed income. Canada Post has mountains of undelivered mail to deal with before they get Sport Chek's gift card to me).
In today's technological world, purchases and returns made online are common practices.
