Does not nest with the alpine pot set as advertised

Great quality gear, handle works better than other gear I’ve used in the past. Avoid using metal cooking instruments to avoid wear and tear. Handle locks into place perfectly and does not wiggle or fault in any way. Perfect for cooking for 1-2 people

This stove is very fragile, the coating wears out too quickly. Considering the price, I am very disappointed with this product which must be changed very often. Only suitable for occasional use. I contacted the after-sales service in France: for MSR it's normal, not made to last over time.

Good length for a 2 liter or larger pot. Not good for the non stick pots though.

Haven't used yet but light and small. Intend to use for trout in backcountry.

Honestly put this thing through the wringer for 5 days and it held up. Cooked multiple meals over a fire with this skillet and it held up. Took care not to get the plastic pieces too hot as they looked like they could melt. Easy to clean and stored nicely in my pack. The handle comes off in my pack now, but I think that was my fault for how I packed it. I can reattach it no problem and it is still usable, I just have a handle getting to the bottom of my pack now.

I bought this skillet for backpacking trips when I want to cook a small trout stream side or make bacon and eggs for breakfast. I can't wait for the weather to improve so I can give it a test run. The non-stick coating and light weight and packability are just what I was looking for. I will most likely purchase the Alpinist 2 Cook Set to nest with this skillet so I have a complete system for two.

MSR makes high quality skillets, but I prefer, and continue to use for the last 6 years, the previous model with sloping sides, which makes it easier to slide in a small spatula to flip pan cakes or eggs. If this current model were the only style available, I would still buy it, and just have to learn to make smaller pancakes.
