I love my new bike! It rides smooth, is perfect for commuting and because it is a hybrid it is super lightweight and not bulky. It also has an adjustable seat and handlebars which makes it easy for sharing with friends and family. A bonus was getting it on sale and the customer service I had at Sportchek was great. The staff in the bike department were so great at helping me get my bike setup and choosing a new lock and accessories.

Derailer issue

There is an issue with gears skipping.

I bought this bike a month ago. I rode it once for approximately 10 mins while pulling my child in a trailer. I changed gears and the chain got caught causing the derailleur to lodge itself into the spokes of the rear wheel and come to a sudden stop. I contacted sportcheck thinking it would be an easy fix. They said it shouldn't be an issue to fix and they could replace it under warranty. I got a call a few days later saying parts weren't covered under warranty and I'd have to pay for a new part. The sport check warranty only covers tune ups for a year.
Ill be attempting to contact the manufacturer to have this resolved. I get that it's a cheap bike but changing gears is a basic function of a bike.
If I could go back in time I would have skipped sportcheck and went to a local bike shop. I probably would have ended up paying a little bit more for a bike but would have got a better product and I'm sure the local bike shop would offer better support if I had any issues after purchase.
