New Balance Men's FuelCell SuperComp Elite v5 Running Shoes

I love this new version of it! Lighter, snappier! It’s honestly a better version compared to the V4, and I love that they still carry 2E for runners like me who have a wider feet.

This shoe provides the cushion I need for my longer runs, but the carbon plate and lightweight material make this shoe perfect for my speedwork, and tempo runs. I am between size 10 and 10.5. I got size 10.5 and they feel great: plenty of cushion but they are light and solid on my strides. I've run a 15-mile long run and a shorter threshold run of 8 miles. No issues on either run. The 8 mm drop works well for me, and the shoes seem to provide a good rock forward for each stride. These actually can be used for all of my training, and I think will work for my upcoming marathon.

Great shoe. Slightly updated design from the prior model. The heel base width seems much more narrow. I did like the width of the prior version so this took a few runs to get used to. That said, heel cushioning seems at least equal to the prior.

First I want preface by saying that I live in Montreal so I need a shoe that can handle both concrete when I run through the streets and land and rocks when I climb Mont Royal, the mountain sitting in the middle of the city. In the summer I run the same path twice a week from my place to the top of the mount which is about 15K. I just took them on my first run today and this was the best run I've had in years!! They are insanely fast, bouncy and comfortable. It literally feels like being on propulsions. It makes you not want to stop running because your feet just keep bouncing off the ground. They are super stable. I was running effortlessly. I was cruising on multiple occasions and when it felt challenging the shoes were giving me back this energy and it made things easier to work through. Highlight was when I finished the run with a couple sprints in the streets. I was going dumb fast it was a scary feeling!! Oh and not to forget about the beautiful sound they make it's like a musical pop and it really turns heads it's empowering. Prior to those I was running with beat up Under Armour Speedform Gemini 2 (2016 technology) which I loved and couldn't let go but now I realize how I was capping my performance. During my runs I would experience pain in the legs & the lower back until I was really warmed up and I was always finishing runs with cramps. Always felt like I wanted to run more but my body was giving up too early on me. So I ordered the Adidas Adios Pro 4 and EVO SL, the Nike Vomero Plus and the Brooks Hyperion Max 3. I only tried them at home but I can say the Adidas Adios Pro 4 felt like it lacked structure and was digging into the ankle plus the material looked kind of cheap. The EVO SL also felt cheap and on the opposite very bulky. The Nike Vomero Plus felt also bulky and too soft on the feet. Finally the Hyperion Max 3 felt super heavy and bulky and had no ankle support. I returned all of those and kept doing my research until I randomly came upon this brand new release by New Balance!! So I may be late but this is amazing how far shoe technology has evolved in 2025. This is my first ever supershoe (as well as first ever pair of New Balances) and they did not disappoint!! I am grateful the teams at New Balance took time to craft this incredible shoe. And when I saw that Alex Yee the 2024 World and Olympic champion in triathlon was involved I knew this shoe was designed to run in various conditions. 5STAR. Now we just need more colorways!! I got the white ones because I like a subtle/neutral tone. Please make a black version i saw a limited edition online they look fire!!!

Love the new version! Feels fast! I've worn it during a speed workout and 14 mile steady paced run. I felt the difference in a good way from v4.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The first thing I noticed about these shoes was how light they were. It felt so easy to run in them. The second thing I noticed was the cushioning. These shoes make asphalt feel soft. I've been dealing with a tender Achilles but I didn't feel any pain while running in these shoes - and I was cruising. I'm super happy with them.

I have had the v3 and v4 and this is the perfect balance between them. It has the light and fast feel of the v3 with some of the stability from the v4. I am also very thankful they continue to make a wide version of race shoes.

Fast shoe that propels you forward. Preferred the wide over standard version.
