Best road to trail sneaker PERIOD!

After logging 264 miles across roads, trails, mixed terrain, snow, and freezing creek crossings, the Nike Pegasus Trail 5 GORE-TEX has proven itself as one of the most versatile shoes I’ve run in. Fit & Comfort Right out of the gate, the fit stood out. The toe box is nicely sized—roomy enough to allow natural toe splay without feeling sloppy. This is especially important for longer efforts, and it shines here. I’ve run these with: SealSkinz waterproof socks for long snow runs and sub-freezing creek crossings Base-layer wool socks for normal cold or wet conditions In both cases, the fit remained dialed. No pressure points, no bunching, and no compromises in comfort. GORE-TEX Performance The GORE-TEX upper works exactly as advertised. My feet stay dry in snow, slush, rain, and water crossings. When paired with waterproof socks, this setup is borderline unstoppable in winter conditions. For cold-weather running, this combo has become my go-to. Midsole & Ride The biggest surprise—and highlight—for me is the ReactX foam. In my experience, it’s far better than ZoomX. It strikes a near-perfect balance: Cushioned without feeling mushy Responsive without being harsh Stable across uneven terrain It’s not a “mega-fast” racing foam, but that’s not the point. This is a shoe built to handle training miles and still be race-worthy, especially for longer efforts or rough conditions. Break-In Period There is a break-in period—about 20 miles. Early on, the shoe feels a bit stiff, but once broken in, it completely opens up. After that point, the ride becomes smooth, confident, and comfortable mile after mile. Versatility This is where the Pegasus Trail 5 GORE-TEX really shines. Road → Trail → Road: Excellent Mixed terrain runs: Outstanding Straight road running: Surprisingly good Winter conditions: Elite If you’re doing 100% trail running, I’d still recommend the Wildhorse 10 (which I also own and use). But if your runs include any combination of pavement, dirt, gravel, snow, or transitional terrain, the Pegasus Trail 5 is hard to beat. Final Verdict The Nike Pegasus Trail 5 GORE-TEX is an incredibly capable all-around shoe. It’s not chasing extreme speed—it’s built for reliability, comfort, and versatility. After 264 miles, it has earned my trust in conditions where footing, warmth, and dryness actually matter. If you want one shoe that can handle: Daily training Long runs Winter weather Road-to-trail transitions Even race day if needed …the Pegasus Trail 5 GORE-TEX absolutely delivers. Highly recommended.

Walking on Sunshine, walking on AIR!

Support has become an issue for me and these shoes are fantastic in that area, plus I feel like I’m walking\running or air with this version and find myself breaking out into a jog or a run at maybe not the most opertune times.

Winter proof sneaker, comfortable and active.

I recommend 0.5 bigger than your usual size, I usually take a 8.5 but I found 8.5 too snug in these especially near the tongue area. A size 9 was perfect straight out the box. I have been using them daily whilst walking the dog and jogging in them tackling puddles, dirt and mixed surfaces. So far so good, I like the stealthy look, goes well for the winter. The comfort and “squishyness” is great. Keep my feet warm and dry.

Great shoe. Fits great, looks great, performs great. The white/photon dust color way is top shelf. Small small thing I don’t like is the shape of the tongue, not terrible, but my little nitpick. Overall 10.

These shoes are so comfortable it's ridiculous. The fact that they are GORE-TEX and waterproof is even better. I am outside a lot during my work days and when is raining my feet starting dry it's great. I'll be buying more NIKE TRAIL shoes soon!

On the whole, these are comfy once you get going in them. There is a tighter section that run across the top of the foot, which I guess is related to the waterproof feature but this can be a little uncomfortable at first. The grip on these is brilliant.

Love the support and snug feel, my feet are narrow. Not too bouncy allowing my stride to feel natural and supported and not over exaggerated. Very happy with the design, very sleek. Very happy with this shoe, would definitely recommend

Most comfortable run on the planet for a trail run however the traction nubs wear out very fast. Would be great if Nike could make the sole of the shoe more durable.
