Nike Men's React Pegasus Trail 5 GTX Running Shoes

I needed some hiking shoes to hike North Cascades National Park in Seattle. Never had hiking shoes before, but hated that they looked so clunky. I saw that trail running shoes work well for hikes as well and allow your feet to stay flexible. I saw these for sale and gave it a try. Wow. It genuinely provided so much support for hiking and light jogging. I hiked through brush, rocks, gravel, tree roots, grass, and other terrains. I didn't slip a single time and the shoes really cushioned each step. Safe to say, I would have been doomed with regular running shoes. After hiking a few days, the shoes still looked new! They were a bit dusty from the trail itself, though. Treads on the bottom looked new, didn't see any scratches or gouges, laces were not frayed. I got the Gore-Tex variant, so at the end of the hike, I walked into the shallow end of a lake and wiped them off, no water got in. I half-sized up. My regular shoe size is a 9, but I went 9.5 because I wore thicker socks and appreciate the toe room during hiking as I don't want my toes banging the front of the shoe. Feet also swell when hiking. All in all, I hiked around 20 miles on this trip as well as walking around city areas, so probably closer to 30 miles. I had no issues whatsoever and would recommend them. If Nike wants to sponsor me for this review, I'm all ears because they've won me over with these purposeful shoes.

I really like these shoes. I had the previous edition, and those were my favorite shoe maybe ever. Build quality, solid, even better than the 4s. Will resist water to a point, but it’s not meant to be a rain boot. Comfortable, extremely so during the first 200 miles. Love the grip of the soles, especially in more treacherous conditions. Would recommend 100%.

Love the Pegasus line of shoes. Got the Pegasus 41's and two pairs of the Pegasus trail 5 Gore-Tex line. Very light and fit like a glove. The reactX soles are what sold me on the Pegasus line of Nike. The Trail 5 Gore-Tex is like icing on the cake. They are very breathable,which is what I needed but also waterproof which is what I was looking for. I have Gore-Tex down jackets, pants, and now shoes. Love this stuff, as it is very light and tuff to go with the waterproof. Can't ask for anything more.

If you are looking for a cushioned performance oriented shoe- this is the one. Snug fit around the upper part of the foot gives better lateral stability than I expected. Definitely more of a sport shoe than a casual shoe from the fit. I’d say it’s pretty true to size, but maybe a half size too small if you have a wide foot.

Bought these for my fiance, he loves the fit (no breaking in needed). FYI. Never put them in the dryer 😂 that’s how we lost his last pair. They will shrink

Really waterproof, perfect for slim foot not for wide. It's light, flexible, non slippery. I am currently working in Theatre .
