This shoe is a gold find for me, personally. I have tried a limited number of trail shoes and none fit or perform consistently the way this shoe does. It isn’t perfect but as a complete package, it delivers. I have a wide forefoot and have had quite a difficult time discovering a shoe that fits as well as the Wild horse. There is room for complete foot expansion and there are no hot spots that have resulted from this shoe on my feet. Three weeks ago, I completed my first 100 mile race and I used the Wild horse 7 for the duration of the entire event. I had one blister form on my heel that I estimate formed as a result of wearing the same socks for the entire race. (my replacement pair got wet) and was no fault of the shoe at all. The last trail shoe I wore from a different brand in a 100k (coupled with my rookie knowledge) resulted in my feet needing med aid to tape them up at an aid station. The shoe works like it’s name. I am a novice ultra enthusiast. I live in the PNW. My experience in this shoe in training took me through dry, wet, snow, and muddy conditions. I watched many YouTube reviews about this product and heard similar responses: “great for dry trails but not wet or muddy terrain”. From my experience, I found them very reliable in dry, rocky and gravel trails but they also handled snow and ground wet conditions well also. Mud on the current tread was manageable. The exceptions I can mention were stepping on large rocks or slick tree roots in slippery conditions. However, with limited trail shoe experience, I wondered how many trail shoes actually provide immovable traction in every running environment regardless of weather. Whatever the case, for me, the secure fit and comfort of this shoe is a grand equalizer to those challenges. If you have not tried the Wild horse, I highly recommend giving them a green light! As for me, I see them as my go to primary trail shoe going forward.

Not happy with this pair of Nikes. Did an ultra of 60km and around the 15th km I started to feel that something is wrong with the hill/thread on the right side of both shoes. Soon I was with blisters on both feet and suffered a big time or more precisely- 45km. However, I finished the race and damaged seriously my feet. It took some time to recover from the blisters and bruises. These shoes are not suitable for long ultra runs with serious elevation. Disappointed! Probably my last Nikes.

I have been wearing the Wildhorse shoes for many years. I absolutely love them! I've completed six 50k's and four 100-mile ultras wearing them. You get maximum protection from the rocky trails, and they are very balanced for rugged terrain. The wide toe box allows for good feel on the trail and minimizes blisters.

Great for running in bad weather. It's winter, there's snow, rain, cold wind, I don't like running on roads because of the impact, so I run in the park and these give me good grip and support.

Fit true to size. Wide toe box if you need one. Not much of a break in required.

    Almost perfect

I liked these shoes. I wanted to like them. I felt although they were otherwise a great exact fit that I had heel slippage, no matter how tightly I tied the laces. But I hesitate to blame it on the shoe - people's feet are just shaped differently. Some say these shoes run big, so maybe that's what's going on. But half size lower would have felt tight in the front. Other than that, great ride, and the grip on loose ground feels reliable and safe. Return was effortless and no problem - that alone deserves a good rating.

I have been searching for the perfect shoe for my daily 3-mile hike. For the price, these are extremely comfortable, definitely geared toward trail running in terms of cushioning - I would love to have seen air used in the heel to balance the comfort for walking. A minor improvement would be attaching the tongue to the sides of the shoe to ensure no rocks/sand can enter which would compliment the snug ankle detail that really works. I am hoping the soles are durable - many other brands use Vibram for durability. My only word of caution is these do tend to run a bit hot, I wish there was a bit more ventilation.
