Good not Perfect

I have mixed feelings about these. Got them to replace an older pair of Nike 5” shorts that I have loved to the point of destruction. I am 5’-4”, 130lbs and I got a small. I’ve done an easy 18 miler and a 10 mile tempo in them now along with a few shorter runs. The good: pockets are amazing for gels. I can carry so many! The not so good: The side pockets are hard to access while running, which makes them less ideal for racing. Fumbling for gels is not what I want mid marathon. I find that they ride up enough to be a distraction, and i wish they had the rubber grippers on the legs. They’re long on me, so even with a bit of hiking up, they’re fine, i just wish they stayed put like the old version. I do wonder if maybe they’re a bit big on me, so I’m going to order another color in an XS and see if that fixes the problem.

I bought a pair of these shorts a year or two ago and immediately fell in love. They were perfectly compressive, did not move an inch, flat seams, and flattering! The material of these shorts felt like a second skin and I wish I had a pair for every day of the week. Worn for every distance from 5k to marathon and the shorts never let me down. So I happily bought another, only to have a completely different pair of shorts arrive :( The new version of the Universa has no sticky grip lining the inside of the thigh, uncomfortable thick seams, are not compressive, and I was so disappointed. It seems Nike was motivated to remove the front seam and add pockets, okay cool, but why remove everything that made the og short great? (Front seam never bothered me at all since the originals fit like a glove and didn’t migrate during movement!!)

New Version Is Inferior

The new version of these shorts is incredibly disappointing. I have three pair of the previous version that I run in constantly and they are perfect. The new version is thinner fabric, a thin and unflattering waist elastic, and they ride up horribly. Please change the design back to the previous version

I don't have this issue with bike shorts and compression shorts from various other brands...
Still gave it an extra star bc it is indeed very soft and comfortable... Just very unflattering to wear in public.

Bring back the previous model

Why did the Nike Universa women’s biker shorts change? I have three pairs from 2023-2024 that I wear all the time and with the new ones I ordered in 2025 the material feels less compressive, the thigh band doesn’t stay as well. They feel lower quality overall.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE! These shorts did not roll or ride up during my run and I love that there’s no middle crotch seam. Super comfortable and cute!
