Cons: the belt is decorative only. It would be nice if it actually worked to synch the waist in a bit.

I never thought I'd love hiking in shorts, but here we are!

As a fat person, you always have to ask yourself if your thighs are going to gobble your shorts while doing any amount of activity. I have never had to worry about that with these which made me say shut up and take my money, OR. I bought these shorts in all three colors and have taken them on multi-day backpacking trips in the High Sierras and the Utah desert and they have been perfect for both. They also are perfect for regular hiking! I've put them through the wringer scooting down slick rock and across granite and they haven't gotten nicked up at all. so comfy, great pockets that are deep enough for snacks and phones, and a great quick drying fabric. Cons: I do not understand the appeal of the built-in belt. It gets twisted in the wash and I have no way, aside from massaging the belt fabric through the shirt fabric, of untwisting it. I would love in future iterations if this could be addressed!

My favorite shorts EVER

I loved my first part of these shorts so much that I bought them in all of the colors. So far I've worn them while building a fence, working in the garden, kayaking, hiking, and just around town for every day. They've held up like iron, even when I caught them on a rose bush and thought for sure they ripped. Not even a mark! They are cool, extremely comfortable, and dry insanely fast. These might be the perfect shorts!

I am living in these shorts! I have had such a hard time finding shorts that fit and are comfortable, but these are the shorts, and I immediately bought a second pair. The built-in belt makes them fit well and comfortably throughout the day. I like that they don't "bell out" at the bottom like a lot of plus-size shorts, and the length is great. The black is a "soft" black (rather than jet black) which I really like. Would love to see them in a nice gray since I don't look good in the other (autumnal) options. Thank you Outdoor Research!

My new go to short

These will absolutely be my new go to short for hiking, biking, scrambling, river floating, you name it. Super comfortable and versatile. I bought the 1x, and it fits great. In jeans I wear an 18w, so it's always a gamble as to whether 1x or 2x is my size.
