From Best to Worst

I have owned five pairs of Ultra Glides, from the original iteration to the present "Version 4." Version 4 are the worst ones. Previous versions provided grip with cushion and saved my feet on long runs. Current version feels like I'm slapping a piece of plastic against the ground until my foot goes numb. I have taken these on ~10 runs so far, middle range 5-8 miles, around 2.5-3 miles each time my feet are numb and it just gets worse from there. Skip these, go for the gravel shoes.

Great Cush for a long push

Been running on trails with these for about 2 months now and am extremely pleased I bought them. Great comfort and cushioning for long efforts. Pleasantly surprised how light they are. They are my go to shoe , favourite for sure .

Great shoes for first 50K

Purchased for my son to run his first Ultra. Comfortable and light. The tongue stays in place while running. Worked well in the rain and mud. No blisters after 50K. Overall great trail shoe! Would purchase again.

Disappointed

These are very comfortable and fit perfectly. However the outsoles wear extremely quickly. After wearing three or four times, a number of the lugs on the outsoles have worn or broken off. If this was a race-only shoe, this might be acceptable. I doubt I will buy another pair.

These are well made, well designed and super comfortable. The outsole provides plenty of traction and these are very stable. They have replaced my Hokas and when they wear out, I’ll get another pair!

So good I got two pairs. Hot take but I love that they are NOT GORE TEX! As a result they are super light and breathable, which is actually hard to find in a shoe like this. The fit is precise and I like the quick lacing system, though the laces are a little long. The midsole is beefy and protective but also very light with lots of cushion. The tread is aggressive enough for most trail conditions but not out of place on mixed routes with pavement and gravel. I love this shoe and I hope they continue making it without gore tex;)

Comfortable cushy neutral foot position

A great option for a max cushion type daily or trainer. Definitely not for hard surface running. You can hear the grinding of the bottom on asphalt. But as an off road trainer or a daily do all A+. 4 stars not 5 because of color options. Salomon rarely hits the nail on the head with color ways anymore so it’s just something you have to tolerate to get a good product
