Surprised by how quickly it streches in!

My foot measures as 9-1/2". Over twenty-seven years ago, I'd buy normal shoes in 9-1/2, 10, & sometimes a 10-1/2; boots usually 11 but sometimes 10-1/2 (variance due to having a wider foot). For the last decade (80 lbs heavier) until now, normal shoes are usually size 10-1/2 (never less) sometimes 11; boots same as always. I have two pairs of old climbing shoes, the first from twenty-seven years ago (Saltic, can't recall name or size but they were very tight/painful-ish with moderate-aggressive profile) and the second from 19 years ago (Boreal Fusion S2, size 11, more of a comfort fit required after a broken big toe). Nowadays I can get both on but the Saltic only for a minute (too painful) and the Boreal is painful & I could possibly climb in them but I'd want them off before a climb was over. These Scarpa Helix (I wanted for comfort until I was used to being back into climbing) that I purchased were actually a 10-1/2 (European 44)!! They still hurt when trying them on but were still more comfortable than the Boreal shoes by far (something I figured I might be able to wear for 2 hours-ish). First use: Lasted over an hour before needing to slip heels off for a bit. After the climb, noticed they had already stretched out faster than expected and way more than as well. Whereas I thought it'd take about 8-10 climbs, I already think I should have downsized by another half-size! Yet I'm not worried--my Boreals feel about a size smaller (and I have a growing son who'll fit them if I can switch back sooner than later). Thus my advice is, go a full size down from what you wear in a normal shoe, as they stretch fast. Oh, & regarding another reviewer complaining about these not being wide fitting, he must be way wider that he said, because I'm 2e and found them perfectly wide enough (unless if I based it off my length only--but then I don't even do that with my normal everyfay shoes!).

An excellent all round shoe - trad or sport.

Never buy a shoe online unless you have tried it on before hand - these are narrow shoes but you can't go wrong with Scarpa - been using their gear for over thirty years now and have never been disappointed in any of their products

Size and shape are really narrow

Have been climbing now for a few years and have always been successful with shoes until this one… super narrow. Not suitable for people with wide feet. Can’t return them either after having tried to use them once. So saddd
