Spalding 54 inch Acrylic Hercules Basketball System

It took 4 hours to assemble. Not very satisfied spending all that time to find out the short and long arms provided weren't sturdy enough to properly support the weight of the 54" backboard. I'm not sure if Spalding had a mix-up during assembly of this bball system or if the support arms have changed. I have seen solid tubes used with similar models; but this one has them flattened where it connects to the backboard; which doesn't make any sense to me.

We bought the Spalding Hercules 54 inch system last year from Canadian Tire. Followed the directions, even winterized it and the base cracked in less then 9 months. Complete garbage!

We’ve had lots of fun with this basketball hoop so far. My daughters can both adjust the hoop height themselves which is great. The con I have is the water leaks out of the base and you have to constantly check it. It was windy one day and the hoop knocked over and bent the rim 2 weeks after we bought it... so that was super disappointing. We are going to fill it with sand when we get a chance (when we are not in lockdown) and maybe get a patio stone to put on the base as well.

I am very happy with the purchase and its already had lots of use from my kids and their friends as well as our family. It was fairly straightforward to assemble but you will need 2 people for some of the construction. Make sure to have some sort or table or ladder system accessible for the assembly. Its perfect for family fun and people of all ages and skill levels.

We bought this for our ten year old son for Christmas as his Santa gift and were very disappointed when we discovered many missing parts (washers, bolts and spacers) while building it. As a result it has been left unbuilt since Dec 2020, a sad little guy and we are having a tough time getting in touch with anyone from Spalding to assist us. If we can get some help and the missing parts quickly we might be able to change our review.

Good quality net for the price. Portable yet relatively sturdy.

I bought this basketball system in December 2020 as a Christmas gift for my son through sportckek.ca. Sport Chek, as always, was great to deal with and the package arrived in timely manner without any apparent issue. Assembly after Christmas took some time but initially went fairly smoothly. Upon completing assembly and filling the base with water we discovered that the unit was leaking. We had to partially disassemble the unit in order to locate the source of the leak. We discovered a hairline crack in the indented portion of the top where the post connects to the base. I attempted to contact Spalding customer service at the phone number provided in the instruction manual. A voice mail informed me that they are not taking calls during Covid and directed me to email the company. Unfortunately, the email was difficult to make out in the voice mail (spaldingcanada@fltl.com?). The spelling of Spaldling and Canada are obvious but what is fltl? I attempted to email the company but I assume that I got the email wrong as I never received a response to my initial email. I eventually when online and found a customer service link on via the Spalding website. Once I had submitted my complaint via the website, I received a quick response. From that point forward the process for confirming our claim and model number was painless and efficient but the required replacement base is on back order so it will be a couple of weeks before it arrives. Ultimately the presence of the hairline crack has left us with concerns about the potential durability of the base. Replacing the base has resulted in significant extra time spent trying to locate the leak, disassembling the unit, reporting the issue and, once the replacement base arrives, reassembling the unit. It also means that my son has been unable to use his Christmas present during a time (Covid restrictions) when he could really use the physical activity. Once we managed to reach them, Spalding’s customer service dealt with the matter courteously and efficiently but it would have been nice: 1. if Spalding checked the base for leaks before shipping the unit (although I recognize this would not account for bases that are damaged during packaging or shipment); 2. if the instruction manual included up to date and correct customer service contact information; 3. if the voice mail for the customer service number provided included the spelling of the email addresses provided; and 4. to receive an apology from Spalding for the hassle and wasted time.
