Product Details

The SportRack SR2901BLR Crest 2 Locking is a platform style hitch mounted rack that gives you the ability to carry up to two bicycles. The SR2901BLR Crest 2 mounts into 1.25" and 2" hitches giving you the flexibility to carry it on a wide variety of vehicles.

  • How to load your bike: To mount your bikes onto the Crest 2 you first need to adjust the wheel trays to accommodate the wheelbase of your particular bikes. Once the wheel trays have been adjusted the rubberized hook can then be lowered onto the frame, once you have it securely placed against the frame of your bike you will tighten the wing-nut holding the hook in place

  • Fits variety of bikes: The Crest 2 is designed to be a universal bike carrier. This is done through the multiple adjustment points on the rack which allow you to customize the rack to accommodate the type of bike you are carrying. The exceptions being fat bikes, and bikes with carbon frames

  • Rear access to your vehicle: In order to provide you with better access to the back of your vehicle the Crest features a tilting centre post. The post can be folded down once the bikes are removed from the rack giving you the ability to access to your back hatch or trunk

  • Platform Style Rack: The Crest 2 Locking is a platform style bike rack which means your tires are mounting into the rack, this prevents your bikes from swinging back and forth like they would on a traditional hanging style rack

  • Locking: The SR2901BLR includes both locking arms that secure your bike onto the rack along with a locking threaded hitch pin that secures the bike rack onto your vehicle

  • Black powder coated finish

  • Holds up to 2 bikes

  • Adjustable rubberized hooks secure your bike to the rack

  • The hooks are rubberized in order to protect the finish of your bike

  • Center folds down for rear vehicle access and folds up when not in use

  • Hooks and wheel trays adjust to fit almost all bike frames and sizes

A great bike rack

This is the bike rack that caught my attention while searching online. I have used my 2-bike rack immediately and I am very happy with the purchase. The bikes are easy to load and unload and they are very secured, no swaying . Both the actual rack and both bikes can be locked in place - very useful. And you can tilt the empty rack away from the car so the trunk could be entered which I find useful.

Follow the instructions...

Read the instructions - they are good enough if you pay attention to the drawings too. Get a good clear area to work in and it’s easy to assemble. Tightening the screw thread attachment bolt on the tow hitch makes a world of difference to the stability of the rack. It’s a really good budget bike rack - but remember it’s not a rear car ornament, so take it off when you’re not using it, it will add years to any racks life!

Love the locking system!

Bought this on sale as wanted a platform type rack. Been very happy with it - the bikes don’t move.

Great with one flaw

Great rack in terms of bike sitting securely and not moving, also the locking mechanisms are a bit sketchy. I pulled one out of the plastic handle accidentally. I was able to put it back in, but it represents a serious security deficiency. I wouldn’t leave my bikes on there for any length of time unattended, which is part of the reason that I bought the locking model.

Functional

Once assembled, it works fine but the instructions included need corrections. The parts list shows one less bolt than you need, although it did come withthe required number of bolts. It has a washer with no instructions where to use it, but you can guess as it is the only bolt and nut in the assembly that does not have a washer noted in the assemble instrucitons.

Great budget priced bike rack

Works great so far. Easy to put together and easy to adjust to fit and load the bikes. A little wobbly when driving because the vertical bar is held in place by a pin (so it can fold), but bikes are still very secure (especially with the locks). Takes a couple minutes to fold it down enough to access my trunk, and it can’t be driven folded down because vertical post sticks out in a weird direction, so it takes a few extra minutes to do anything. I can access trunk from behind back seats so it’s ok for me but might be a bigger issue for some people. The great price makes it an excellent choice for people on a budget!

Great, not perfect

This rack is very well built, easy to assemble and carries my road bike and my girlfriends mountain bike with ease. It swings away to clear the tailgate on my pickup and folds up for storage in the truck box when not in use. My only gripe is the bolt that secures the rack to the trailer hitch receiver. Because it is a bolt and not a pin, I need to carry a small wrench in order to remove the rack from my trailer hitch. A simple pullout pin would work faster and be more convenient. Other than that you can't lose.
ProsGreat price
ConsThe bolt securing the rack to the receiver
