fine boots / bad service at sportchek

Overall, a very poor experience. I bought these online, and when they arrived, the alarm tag was still on one of them. I spent my day off taking them to sportchek, setting off the alarm as I entered, and got them removed. Apparently I was the second such case of the day. When I put them on, one of the boots was very comfortable, but the one with the alarm was super tight near the ankle, in the precise place where the alarm would have been resting against the bottom of the box and digging into the boot. This means the discomfort of the boot has less to do with the make of the boot itself, and more to do with an alarm molding its shape to create an uncomfortable effect. I reached out to sportchek about the alarm tag as soon as I opened the box (discount, apology, etc?), and the form said to expect a response within 48 hours, but that was nearly a week ago. In time, I suspect the boots will be fine, but dealing with sportchek has been a bit of a mess. Can't recommend.

No, I do not recommend this product.

NOT WATERPROOF

NOT WATERPROOF, after working outside in BC rain my feet were getting wet, Shoes started deteriorating, falling apart after only 6 weeks. Comfortable sure but not when my feet are wet Why can't companies actually make a Waterproof Shoe instead of just claiming it. Perhaps a class action lawsuit works smarten then up

Lightweight and comfortable

Very comfortable right out of the box. Felt like I could run in them easily on the trails.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Your shoe's untied.

Awful lot of money for what I got... and that was on sale. The upper eyelets are too shallow and slick to hold the laces, resulting in having to re-tie your shoes every few hundred meters at best, no matter how tightly they're cinched and tied. Furthermore, once I got the shoes home and could examine them without the distraction of a noisy frathouse outing commandeering the footwear section... is this skimpflated *pleather?* Durable real leather is the entire reason I've previously stuck with the brand in the first place. I don't foresee myself returning to The North Face again after this overpriced, pseudo-functional travesty.

No, I do not recommend this product.
